libbos eating their vomit over emissions reduction

Now Abort has no excuse to set a realistic emissions reduction target Wink

Quote:
US and China's climate change agreement prompts calls for Australia to follow suit

China and the United State's agreement on a new set of ambitious targets to cap or reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 2030 has prompted calls for Australia to follow suit.

US president Barack Obama met his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping for talks in Beijing and announced the joint agreement on Wednesday.

China agreed to slow and then stop its emissions by 2030 while the US said it would reduce emissions by up to 28 per cent by 2025.

Australia has committed to a 5 per cent cut in emissions by 2020.

Climate Institute environmentalist Erwin Jackson said the agreement showed how far behind the Australian domestic policy conversation was on climate change.
Audio: Listen to Ashley Hall's report (AM)

"We've been obsessed with 2020 targets, when the reality is that the rest of the world is now thinking ... significantly beyond that," he said.

Professor Matthew England from the Climate Change Research Centre at the University of New South Wales said Australia's economy would suffer unless a plan was developed for deeper emission cuts.

"We can't rely on fossil fuels locally for our power because of the levels of greenhouse gas emissions," he said.
Australia is being urged to follow the lead of China and the US and take action to reduce emissions. What's your reaction?

"We need to move to renewables for this.

"But also we've got to take note that economies like China are going to start using less and less coal ... we have to keep emphasising the urgent need to reduce emissions."

Even if Australia tripled its emissions for a year, it still wouldn't equate to anywhere near the output of China or even the US over a few months. Nothing to see here, folks!

Yeah, this is just the curtain raiser to Paris 2015.

We need to step up to the plate. As the 12th largest economy, member of the G20 we need to do our bit, highest per capita emitter as we are.

Abbott and Palmer must apologise to the world for scraping the carbon levy.

And lib lab must set a 30% cut target by 2030 so to be in step with US and China and have the policies to attained this. Real policies, not their pretend policies.

Greens will probably set a zero emission target for Australia by 2050. That will blow your spin out of the water matey.

By conservatives digging in, it shows the voters that the coalition have an agenda of increasing cost of living pressures through higher electricity prices.

Isn't that what the now-dead carbon tax was supposed to do? Drive up electricity and gas prices in the hope we'd use them less and in doing so, pollute the environment less?

Why would Greens fear Liberal and Labor coal lobby donations to their parties drying up.

And as for the coal lobby trying to manipulate voters into voting against their best interests, you obviously think voters are stupid.
