hes brought up a very good point in our society. Why do we laud aboriginal people for being able to do basic everyday things the rest of us take for granted? I know lots of non aboriginal people in the same circumstances as this young aboriginal man, would it make the newspapers if any of them managed to cut themselves off the booze for a while?

I'll see if I can find it, but it should be too difficult. Results were, traditional anglo names got the most call backs despite having identical qualifications and backgrounds.

Oh I do apologise - the thread was going so well since you started it with your - totally not snyde at all - opening post.

But I'm not going to waste my time explaining to the likes of you how the cycle of poverty and underprivilege perpetuates its way so destructively through generations, and how publicly funded "leg up" programs are not only morally justified, but are eminently sensible social and economic policies that benefit the entire nation. No, not to you - not to someone who doesn't know the meaning of underprivilege, and who will never experience a day of it - not because (as you will no doubt lecture us all) because of all the heroic sacrifices and hard work you will claim you have done - but because of where you were born and the colour of your skin.

Of course they did, we live in a country founded by Anglos, we should expect nothing less. Have you ever noticed that most aboriginal people have anglo names? So if this is the case there should be swarms of aboriginal people getting these job interviews. Is there? If not, why not?
