I'm sure that'll get a lot of airtime - obliquely, though.

All it indicates is that they have a flag.

And presumably think it's one to rally behind? Flags may be worthless pieces of rag, but their value is in their symbolic meaning. That's why people get excited about burning flags -- to them, the flag represents x or y. The logical inference is that, by displaying this flag (presumably not there before), the perpetrators are identifying themselves with what they understand the flag to represent.

In short, they're saying -- hey, we're the nasty flavour of muslim, not the nice one. Please come and relieve us of our lives, we'd rather get to our virgins asap.

Abbott's jumped on the bandwagon convening a meeting of the National Security Committee in Cabinet, and telling us that he had convened it.  Duh.  I feel much better knowing of that.

What a Godsend this is for Abbott and Hockey, taking the national focus away from what will be a disastrous budget update due shortly after noon.

I wonder if there are any flag purchases on Abbott's or Hockey's credit card in the last few days.

1. We don't know yet.

2. Their religion doesn't matter - it's the act of terrorism that's a major concern.

3. If they tun out to be Muslims it means that this was an Islamic attack.  It does not, however, mean that all attacks are Islamic or that all Muslims support the attack.

Turn your thoughts to the unfortunate hostages, and stop wasting time thinking about side issues such as faith and flags.

What is?  Do you have any proof that the perpetrators are in fact Muslims?  Anybody can buy a flag and hang it in the window.

Even if they are Muslims, why do you assume they are actually either (a) observant or (b) following the mainstream interpretation of that religion?

Your bias and bigotry is well known Sprint.  You are an Islamophobe.  You will I expect blame all Muslims for this in your usual idiot idea of Collective Guilt.    Grin Grin Grin Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy

So, we both deplore all forms of terrorism and both want to see all terrorists and their supporters rounded up, put before the courts, and then sent to jail.

So, in answer to my earlier question, do you still hold this view if the terrorists are professing muslims?

Let me repeat:  I deplore all acts of terrorism, and all terrorists.

That includes Christians, Buddhists, Muslims, atheists, blacks, whites, Asians, women, men, etc.

When I say "all", I mean all.

but you water that down by including in your definition of terrorism such frightening acts as graffiti.

No, that's not my definition and I don't agree with it.

I cited the FBI stats, and in those stats they include graffiti attacks.

oh you agree with it when it suits your argument.

Why didn't these dudes just do what the majority of Islamic terrorists do, that is just be suicide bombers. That is how they create the most fear with greatest impact...I reckon these dudes are rank amateurs...or on someones payroll.

No.

If you go back to that particular thread you will see that I clearly stated that you could remove all of the graffiti attacks from the list if you wanted to.
