Lord Herbert wrote on Dec 15th, 2014 at 11:42am:
The news reporting is very amateur.

How many hostage-takers are there?

Have they made any demands yet?

Are the police in commucation with them on their mobiles?

Has a car parked in the neighbourhood been traced to them?

Have the police vetted the CCTVs in the area?

Simon Bouda from CH9 said they're being VERY careful on what they say about what they see happening outside because it's believed that the gunman inside is watching news telecasts of this incident and they don't want to tip off the gunman by broadcasting Police movements.

The reports I have heard mention shotgun and pistol, I wonder if he has a license for them and are they registered.

If not, he could be up for a few hundred dollars in fines.

This could be a bad day for him.

I think the baron's point is about the effectiveness of gun control laws in preventing crime, greg. Although I stand to be corrected.

Master herbert,

They should send Kochie or Karl Stefanovic in. They'd both either sort it out or get shot -- a win-win if there was ever one.

Nah!!
Send my daughter in.

Is he carrying his ammo in a locked container that is separate from the firearms?

Does he have a safe to keep these firearms in that has been inspected by the Police?

If he has a hunting license he can only shoot on rural zoned land,if he has a target shooting license he can only shoot at police approved firing ranges.

He has broken many laws already,if he was a white bogan he would be in serious trouble, as peccahead pointed out being a muslim means a slap on the wrist will be appropriate.

If not, he''ll have to abort this operation and nick down to the police station and do the paper work.

I didn't know he was a Muslim (has that been confirmed now?).

Moreover, I think all fines for all people would be the same, no matter what religion they are.

If I'm wrong on that, please let me know.

It's his policy that caused this, least he could do is swap himself for hostages , the coward will be on TV instead

Grin

The only thing that would be better would be sending Mr Abbott in.

I'm sure we will. The gunmen have asked to speak to Mr Abbott.

If he resolves this hostage crisis, he'll be seen as a tall glass of water.

Thank you for your wise words, suppository. You added a lot to the discussion with that last post.

That's right. All Mr Abbott has to do is talk some sense into these fellows and get them to release the hostages. Maybe he can give them a helicopter or something to make their gettaway.

Yes, I just watched him on TV.  His UUUMMMMss EEEERRRRsss AHHHHHHs were quite well controlled, and his tongue only lolled around twice,   They must have given him a good dose of Phenergon.  No "S$it happens" slipped out either!

What at tall glass of water Karnal, what a tall glass

You need a life.

Thank you for a reply from a Coalition supporter that is abuse free.  It is indeed a rarity on these boards

I reckon Tony should change into his red budgie smugglers and charge in......they'd run a mile without their feet touching the ground.

From what I've heard, it's too late: they're all out on the street now (apparently).

EDIT: only some are out.

Lets remember innocent peoples lives are at risk here.....Those of you making light of the situation should take a moment to reflect.....So far all we have is one disturbed individual who can hopefully be made to see reason???

As it is State and Federal Liberal Governments in charge some people will appropriate the blame on them as Conservatives would blame the ALP if situations were reversed.....As both where on a unity ticket on terrorism and national security issues the situation would be no different no matter who was in power!!!

Huh Huh Huh

Im not sure what a nutbag holding a bunch of innocent people hostage has to do with politics but lets just hope that all of the hostages get out of this physically unscathed and that there is plenty of help getting them through the psychological trauma they are all going to face.

Indeed.

My first concern was for the hostages.

Others seemed to think that the religion of the perp/s was more important.

And others, are more interested in summary executions and burning down public buildings.

A strange lot in there.

Which building is likely to be easier to gain access to by terrorists? A cafe or the Reserve Bank of Australia?

A fair point ... I think the cafe would have been the target precisely because it has low security.

No need for this. Your point stands quite well enough on its own and calling God a "m-o-r-o-n" is perhaps not wise ...
