I dropped all white cereals and sugar a few years ago, never felt better.  In fact, I hardly eat cereals or grains anymore at all.

What's funny is there are lots of foods I can eat infrequently and have no problem.
Since I dropped wheat, when occasionally I do have it, I feel terrible.

Jesus, no wonder you are crook if thats a typical meal.

What's wrong with it?

Grilled lean meat, steamed potatoes, tomato (grilled, not fried), pasta with vegetables, and wholemeal bread.

My doctor's good with it.

Bloodwork 3 weeks ago says all good.

Or maybe you'd be happier if I'd just bought McDonald's?

Or a piece of greasy fish and oil-soaked chips doused with salt?

IMO, the biggest problem with that meal is combining high fat with low fibre carbs.

If you're going to have a high-fat meal, match it with something like sweet potato or pulses and fresh veg.
vegetables should outweigh the meat thats for sure.

They did.

Pork chops are so tasty that you just cannot stop at one for one night. I had pork chops and vegetables the other night for dinner. As fatty as they were, you just cannot say no to them. I was willing to have bacon and eggs with mushrooms, tomato and hash browns all fried up for the dinners. But decided to have another week with healthy meals. That went out the window the other week.

Doesnt look like it. Looks like the meat and pasta are the  main parts of the meal.

And the white bread. Plus you skinned the potatoes removing the most nutritional part.

The bread, pasta and to some extent the potatos are a huge load of carbs that will spike your blood sugar.

Potatos incidently are best eaten a day after being cooked then reheated.

Now I know you're just after an argument.

1. It's wholemeal (brown) bread - not white.

2. The pasta has vegetables mixed in with it.

3. There's a whole tomato as well.

4. The potatoes are steamed which retains nutrients.

5. Also, and I reiterate - my doctor is perfectly OK
with it - as is my rehab nurse. The whole object is
to regain the weight I lost while I was ill.

6. And I don't eat the same meal every night.

I won't even go near the salads I eat for lunch
most days, the cereals for breakfast or the
protein shakes every morning. Or the fact that I've
eliminated added salt, cut back on sugar, and cut
junk-food/takeaways out altogether.

Another example...

Chicken with red wine & garlic sauce.

Steamed vegetables.

Steamed whole potatoes

A raw tomato.

Wholemeal bread.

A salad, such as I usually have for lunch.

I see nothing wrong with this - neither does my doctor.

If he's happy with what I'm eating, so am I.

And it's what WE think that matters, after all.

isn't it?

Doctors are poorly trained regarding diet.

You're eating loads of high GI empty carbs. Wholemeal bread is slightly better than white but not much. Swap bread and pasta for pulses.

You posted about your leg, you need to look into an anti inflammatory diet.

Not gonna bother arguing.

I came onto the board to answer the question in the thread's title - not to
have my choices picked-apart and denigrated.

Gonna keep on doing what I've been doing.

It's working, I'm happy and healthier than I have been for ages.

My weight is back to where it should be.

I have more energy, and feel more positive mentally.

And that's what matters.

I probably won't post again. Thanks.

What about North Bondi creeps who train their children to be bullies - are they better trained?

I'm curious.
