There is, in my mind at least, as well as others, a strong correlation between the return of Matty and the sudden posting of very long, blank messages and numerous posts made under various pseudonyms. Correlation isn't causation, I agree but it is strange this starts to happen when everybody starts calling Matty on his sock-puppetry.

The rules that Aussie has suggested are a sensible and measured response. They are a minor inconvenience, nothing more.

Puhlease, let's not get bogged down on what is nothing more than my lack of care in using www correct terminology. Everyone is aware that if you want to hide where you are posting from, there are many options including hide my arse to assist you do so. It isn't rocket science. If someone posts 'from' France and then from Canada or the USA it is obvious they are hiding something....like being banned etc.

Depends on several factors but essentially most posters' IP numbers are basically static.

Most ISP's utilise a Proxy Server so from the perspective of an external observer, most ISP subscribers will appear as if they are emanating from the same or several similar IP addresses.

If your ISP doesn't utilise a Proxy Server, then unless you turn your ADSL modem/Router off and on frequently, once assigned an IP number, from within the range allocated to the ISP, you will retain the one IP number for long periods of time.

Yeas they do. This is obviously the work of jackmountain aka mattywisk and aka a cast of thousands (also aka possibly the permanently banned IQSRLOW) and I really hope FD adopts a Policy of:

1. Manual approval of new registrants by a GMod.
2. Regard any registrant seeking Membership using an obviously dodgy email addy with great suspicion, and
3. As soon as someone is detected posting (or registering) using a proxy IP, they are permanently banned.

Where are the moderators to fix this up?

The forum was down four times today that I know of.

Yes, I've had intermittent issues as well.

Slow all day, and often the site loads so slowly that it basically times out and I get a page not found error.

Trying again in a few minutes seemed to work and then it's usually fine. For a while.

We obviously have different priorities.

I consider listing people and claiming they may have hacked a website/forum to be considerably more extreme than talking about who may or may not bicker on a forum.

I haven't tried a dedicated proxy, but I do often use TOR.

With TOR, I can post here with no problems (or could, last time I did so).

But I did try, as a test, to see if I could create an account using TOR.

It was a no-go.

So, intentionally or not, you couldn't use TOR to set up a sock if you'd been banned.

Of course, things change, and that may no longer be the case.

EDIT: Posting this while using TOR, seems to be working fine.

But TOR, by its nature, is slower than a 'straight' connection, so that combined with
the slowness that everyone's going crook about, makes it VERY painful to use.

bickering or abuse???... internet sabotage or abuse of privilege ????...

hackers and terrorists are everywhere these days... since when is it it extreme to name names.. if they have nothing to hide .. they can say so...

it is all ABUSE no matter which way you look at it....

well I think so..

IQ seems to have a reputation for upsetting things.. I wouldnt know I have only had the pleasure a couple of times....but from what I have seen...I didnt like and if this person is coming here disguised I prefer to know about it...

and on this forum there shouldnt be anything dangerous about that.......

Don't know what the reason is, but I started having 'slow-down' problems late yesterday.

Was denied even a connection, at various times throughout today.

Managed to connect about 2/3 min ago, after not being to get access a couple of times.

Still can't access that P3 Merry Christmas that was mentioned earlier....

Also page turn is rather slow which is annoying.
Anymore problems and I'm outta here for the night.
