Cods, i hope no one in your family gets killed for offending someone. If that were to happen, you would have to mention in the eulogy that they deserved it; i think most genuine hearted people would find that hurtful.
You mean to say....
Cods, i hope no one in your family gets killed for offending someone's religion by constantly publishing very offensive insulting cartoons about their prophet.
If that were to happen, you would have to mention in the eulogy that they were silly to keep it up after being warned to stop.
Pansi, if Muslims warned you not to come out at night without your burqa on and a male escort, and you defied them and got raped, would you then apologise for offending them with your (lack of) clothes and accept the blame for antagonising a delicate situation?
How low would you go to appease terrorists?
What about if Muslims surrounded me in Aldi and said they'll chop my head off if I bought the pork chops in my shopping basket?
Would I apologise for offending them and put the pork chops back on the shelf?
How low would I go to appease these terrorists?
What if....what if.....what if......
What if I let Muslims be Muslims and mind my own business.
The problem with that approach is that Islam isn't exactly a 'live and let live' philosophy. It conflicts with many fundamental human rights, such as freedom of speech and freedom of religion.
Hence the question - how low would you go to appease the terrorists?
If Muslims warned you not to come out at night without your burqa on and a male escort, and you defied them and got raped, would you then apologise for offending them with your (lack of) clothes and accept the blame for antagonising a delicate situation?
If you think this is some kind of meaningless rhetorical question, don't kid yourself. It is the reality for many women in the world, and the only reason it is not your reality is because people with principles have stood up for the very human rights you are trying to discard. This is where spineless appeasement leads. It does not end with the cartoons. You have to draw a line somewhere, and I can only hope your willingness to discard freedom of speech comes from the same place as cods ramblings - a complete unwillingness to put any thought into the issue.
