I only got the cartoon, not the accompanying article.
Not a bad article, and does raise some good points.
But I don't think he's grasped the real meaning of these cartoons.
His take seems to be that they are to show a gun-loving, violent culture that
the Persil-white West doesn't use violence to fight its battles, but words, and
he goes on to show, quite correctly, that this isn't the case.
But then, we already knew that.
My take, and it appears to be that of the majority, is that the cartoons are to
show that 'we' will not be cowed into silence or submission by these attacks
and the reason they are in cartoon form is simply because the
victims were
cartoonists* who were killed
because they drew cartoons.
*Obviously the dead flics weren't, and no, I haven't forgotten about them.
