This thread is not about that:

Muslims murder 2,000 people

And I wasn't talking about that. It was a reply to your Christians kill 6000 people and your call to ban all regions based on that, when your own quote shows that it was actually groups of different religions defending themselves over a period of time and smaller engagements resulting in many deaths. In other words, local villages protecting themselves, not people killing in the name of any one religion.

So how does banning religion change that? You don't think atheist will protect themselves when being killed for years?

Atheist's certainly won't be killing each other over the difference between the writings in some old book.

And that is not what was happening in bobby's quote. Many of the people killing to protect themselves don't even believe in god as such. They are people who are animist. Half the people voting for the greens in Australia are not that different to them.

You seem to be as naive as Sir Booby.

Cutting funding from religious schools and institutions will not make religion disappear.

How will you stop parents from "drumming their gob gobbing muck" into their children, in the privacy of their own homes?

You can't stop it but you can diminish it.

The Internet and the dissemination of information has certainly impacted on it as well.

And kids aren't interested in that Sunday school sh.t anymore. It is so boring and out of date. It is so yesterday.

Hear hear Sir Nail,

I remember my school days - a public school but they were
always drumming religion into us -

and of course it was Christianity.

I'm not really sure why these idiots are still running rampant. Wasn't there some Pan-African coalition sent in against them?

Says a lot about the ineptitude of the Nigerian military.

And that.... No, really, WTF has that got to do with anything in this thread? That has to be the most irrelevant and retarded reply I have ever seen. It is so far off topic and so disconnected to everything said before it that one has to wonder exactly how hard bob was popping you in the ear for you to go ahead and post that. It just makes no sense at all. Obviously just a sad attempt to have the last word when you simply have nothing to respond with. What a waste of time.

Yes Sir Nail,
religion has at least to be ramped down in schools.

Maybe they should be able to teach kids about different religions
but not ram one in particular down their throats.

How would that be achieved?

An Act of parliament.

It would be over-turned by the High Court within seconds, Bobby.  Section 116 of the Constitution assures that.  I've made that point numerous times to you and others but you keep ignoring it.  Why?   Roll Eyes

Why do you assume that complex problems can be solved with simple solutions?  Particularly simple solutions which are illegal and seek to subvert the cornerstone of our democratic institutions and our sovereignty?  Roll Eyes

You're still not explaining how a simple solution will solve what you've admitted is a complex problem, Bobby.   In fact, you're now doing your typical dodge and weave.   Lets get back to the original point:

How are you going to ban religion?

We know you can't stop people practising their faith in private.  You can't legislate to ban religion 'cause the Constitution won't allow you to.  Looks to me like the idea of banning religion is pretty dead in the water.

So, now the so-called "simple solution" has been sunk, why don't you acknowledge you need complex solutions to complex problems?   Roll Eyes

Dear Brian,
many blessings

it may still be possible to ban religion if a strong enough case was made.

If not at least it could be banned in our schools -

how about that?

In our public state funded schools?  Don't have a problem with that.  Indeed, I've long been unhappy with the increasing intrusion of any religion into that arena.

However, you cannot prevent privately funded schools, established on the basis of religion teaching religion.  Section 116 again.

Guess where the fundies indoctrinate their kids?  It usually isn't in schools, it's at home, Bobby.

I say ban home schooling.   All kids should have to attend schools, simple as that.  At least that way what they are taught is out in the open.   Roll Eyes
