Well, you do realise that Clockwork Orange was a fantasy movie, don't you, Bobby and the techniques utilised in that movie are really just that, fantasies.   They would also as has been noted, constitute Torture and as Australia is a signatory of the UN Convention and has ratified it, it does mean your ability to implement your sadistic  fantasies on people are somewhat limited.    Roll Eyes

I didn't realise that Clockwork Orange was a fantasy -

I though people could be de-programmed.

Why is it torture?

It looks like aversion therapy does work:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ludovico_technique

Quote:
The Ludovico technique is a fictional aversion therapy from the novel A Clockwork Orange administered by a "Dr. Brodsky" at the Ludovico medical facility, with the approval of the UK Minister of the Interior.[1] It involved forcing a patient to watch, through the use of specula to hold the eyes open, violent images for long periods, while under the effect of a nausea-, paralysis-, and fear-inducing drug. The aim of the therapy was to condition the patient to experience severe nausea when experiencing or even thinking about violence, thus creating an aversion to violent behaviour.

Aversion therapy.
In addictions
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aversion_therapy
Quote:
The major use of aversion therapy is currently for the treatment of addiction to alcohol and other drugs. This form of treatment has been in continuous operation since 1932. The treatment is discussed in the Principles of Addiction Medicine, Chapter 8, published by the American Society of Addiction Medicine in 2003.

Aversion therapy is also used in the self-help community to treat minor behavioral issues with the aid of an elastic band, the user or patient would snap the elastic band on his/her wrist while an undesirable thought/behavior presents itself.

The results of Antabuse combined with behavioral marital therapy for treating alcoholism was popular and well-regarded in the 80s and 90s, though the results were mainly ascribed to the behavioral therapy provided.[1][2]

Traditional aversion therapy, which employed either chemical aversion[3] or electrical aversion [4] has now, since 1967, typically been replaced by aversion in the imagination, a technique which is known as covert sensitization.[5]
Kraft & Kraft assessed the value of covert sensitization in six case studies—a fingernail biter, a cannabis smoker, an obese lady, a cigarette smoker, an individual with a chocolate addiction, and an alcoholic. The study found that covert sensitization was effective in all six individual cases. All the participants in the study eliminated their undesirable behavior and this effect held in a longitudinal follow-up.[6] In contrast, Okulitch and Marlatt found that a cohort of 30 alcoholics and 30 social drinkers subjected to aversive therapy via electric shock did worse than an untreated control group at the 15 month follow up period.

IIRC there weren't many elastic bands used in A Clockwork Orange that I can remember, Bobby.   Roll Eyes

"forcing a patient" suggest there is no consent to the process therefore it could be considered Torture, Bobby.

But those radical Muslims deserve it.

It needs to be tried out.

When will Tony Abbott give it a go?

As I keep pointing out, Torture is illegal, Bobby.  Are you really this silly all the time?  Its a rhetorical question!  Don't answer it, please!   Roll Eyes

According to whom?  You whom seem to think laws should be ignored?

Dear Brian - I don't agree we need to try the same method as used in A Clockwork Orange:

Which as has been explained several times, Bobby would more than likely end up with Australia breaking at least two, if not more International Treaties, it's own domestic laws and of course, see all those that authorised and carried it out being prosecuted for crimes they had committed.  I'm sorry that you're so foolish that you appear unable to grasp this.    Roll Eyes

BTW, there is no evidence that such a method would do anything useful.   Roll Eyes

Nice term invented by yellow journalists, Ahovking.  It is never used by military planners or the writers of military doctrine.   Mass bombing has always been a failure when it has been used.  All it does is knock down houses and make the survivors rather angry.  I was under the impression that the thread was about "curing" people, not making them worse or more of them...   Roll Eyes

Always been a failure when it has been used? The goal of saturation bombing (Which is the original military term), is too inflict damage in every part of a selected area of land, In contrast to precision bombing, it is not aimed at a small target such as a bunker, an airfield, or a military unit, instead to do mass damge to cities and importent ifastrature..

Looking at 99.9% of all cities that were saturation bombed, they were all destroyed achieving saturation bombing goal of "inflict damage in every part of a selected area of land"

Looking at Wesel for example were 97% of the city was destroyed before it was finally taken by Allied troops in 1945, it is hugely successful.

I believe we can blame Saudi Arabia for all the trouble.

Why can't they  show the true "religion" of Islam -
where Jesus is mentioned many times & his message of forgiveness
& also the idea  of Allah the merciful.
They are supposed to be the protectors of Islam's most Holy places.

Instead they abuse human rights -
they cut off peoples heads
they flog journalists & bloggers etc.

Why can't Saudi Arabia use it's huge army to defeat ISIS?

Saudi Arabia stands back & does nothing about ISIS.

One day ISIS will attack them & will be too late.
