The Bali 9's two main players soon to be shot
Jan 16th, 2015 at 9:33am

Personally I don't agree with prisoners sitting around for 9 years in prison waiting to be shot.

If found guilty - execute them as soon as possible.

"[This is] because Indonesia has become the biggest market in south-east Asia," Mr Prasetyo said, adding that up to 50 Indonesians a day die from drugs.

"Forty-five per cent of all drugs productions is for Indonesia. That's astonishing.

"There are so many victims and most of them are young people, productive age. I'm very concerned about this."

Mr Prasetyo said the Australian Government had not pressured Indonesia to grant clemency".

In China that is exactly what they do to convicted criminals, found guilty, shot within the week, family sent account for the bullet to the head. No wasting time, no or very few appeals for their citizens, should be more of it. Unfortunately in China there legal system and courts are play things, hence being found guilty by them in not a real conviction, just unfortunate. Then again what legal system is faultless, always a system for the rich, then a system for the poor.
The Bali nine so soon after Miss Corby was caught should have woken them up. Maybe when they are executed it might send a stronger message.

Highly unlikely.

"A recent study by Professor Michael Radelet and Traci Lacock of the University of Colorado found that 88% of the nation’s leading criminologists do not believe the death penalty is an effective deterrent to crime."

http://www.deathpenaltyinfo.org/study-88-criminologists-do-not-believe-death-pen...

A barbaric punishment, for barbaric nations.

Wei Qingan (Chinese: 魏清安, ?-1984, 23 years old): a Chinese citizen who was executed for the rape of Liu, a woman who had disappeared. The execution was carried out on 3 May 1984 by the Intermediate People's court. In the next month, Tian Yuxiu (田玉修) was arrested and admitted that he had committed the rape. Three years later, Wei was officially declared innocent.

Teng Xingshan (Chinese: 滕兴善, ?-1989): a Chinese citizen who was executed for supposedly having raped, robbed and murdered Shi Xiaorong (石小荣), a woman who had disappeared. An old man found a dismembered body, and incompetent police forensics claimed to have matched the body to the photo of the missing Shi Xiaorong. The execution was carried out on 28 January 1989 by the Huaihua Intermediate People's court. In 1993, the previously missing woman returned to the village, saying she had been kidnapped to Shandong. The absolute innocence of the wrongfully executed Teng was not admitted until 2005.

Nie Shubin (Chinese: 聂树斌, 1974-1995): a Chinese citizen who was executed for the rape and murder of Kang Juhua (康菊花), a woman in her thirties. The execution was carried out on April 27, 1995 by the Shijiazhuang Intermediate People's court. In 2005, ten years after the execution, Wang Shujin (Chinese: 王书金) admitted to the police that, in fact, he had committed the murder.

Why is it and whom decides that the death penalty is barbaric. "the enlightened ones"

I cannot comprehend when some kills another persons children and the first thing the aggrieved parents do is go on television and say they forgive the criminal, that is not barbaric, it weak. Criminals and nation like weak people, weak people become targets, an easy crime, weak nation disappear.
The Bali nine knew if caught they could be executed, hence, execute them. If that does not send a message, execute the next group. The numbers will dwindle. I am staggered that there are nations on this planet, Scandinavian countries who have a maximum penalty of 25 years for murder, 1 person or 101. How pathetic.

I couldn't care less if they shoot the lot of them...

they were smuggling Heroin which would have killed someone else's child.. they couldn't care less if it did and nor do I care less that they get executed...

and if anyone says that its not a deterrent then they'd be a halfwit..

Jesus was an enlightened being who preached the gospel of forgiveness.

I must follow in his light & the light of other enlightened beings.

Yet here we have in Australia the Indonesian, John Basikbasik, who murdered his wife and unborn child by bashing them to death with a bike and what do we do?

We not only release him from prison we have human rights watchdog, Gillian Triggs, lobbying to pay him $350,000 in compensation for "loss of liberty, loss of freedom and injury to feelings"?

No wonder the Indos think we are a country of pathetic losers.

Anyone stupid enough to try to run drugs in a country where the penalty is death would certainly fit their opinion of us.
