Israel's day of reckoning is coming

Israel's day of reckoning is coming: Stephen Lendman

The launch of a preliminary investigation into Israeli war crimes against the people of Gaza by the International Criminal Court (ICC) will eventually lead to “Israel’s day of reckoning,” an American political commentator says.

Author and radio host Stephen Lendman made the remarks in a phone interview with Press TV on Sunday while commenting on American and Israeli reaction to the ICC decision to open a preliminary probe into war crimes committed against Palestinians.

Lendman said the initiative is a crucial step towards achieving justice for Palestinians.

ICC Prosecutor Fatou Bensouda on Friday announced that her office intends to conduct an “analysis in full independence and impartiality” into suspected war crimes carried out by Israeli military forces, including those committed during its Gaza offensive last summer, in which nearly 2,200 Palestinians, including 577 children, were killed.

“Well, the response was what you’d expect,” said Lendman. “Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu denounced it, its Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman called for abolishing the ICC. And, of course, America denounced the Palestinian Authority for daring to go to the ICC with…war crimes against Israel.”

In an interview with Israel Radio, Lieberman said, "We will demand of our friends in Canada, in Australia and in Germany simply to stop funding" the Hague-based tribunal. The United States also joined Israel and condemned the ICC probe as a "tragic irony".

Lendman said, “There is no question that Israel committed war crimes, no question that it literally commits crimes against humanity and sometimes wars of aggression [on] daily [basis] against the Palestinian people, not just in Gaza, not just in [Operation] Protective Edge, not just in 2008, 2009, Operation Cast Lead or Operation Pillar of Cloud, in November 2012, but daily against Palestinians in the West Bank, in East Jerusalem.”

“Even if it [the ICC] holds Israel and its officials guilty of high crimes, nothing, whatsoever, won’t happen in its wake,” he said.

“Nonetheless, it’s important that these initiatives go ahead,” he said, “because one day maybe Israel will be held responsible, accountable, when other nations will see to it that Israel is punished for its crimes.”

Lendman concluded that Israel could ignore the ICC rulings, “but it can’t if other nations intend to enforce them. It has never happened so far. Will it happen? Not immediately, not soon, not mid-term, not intermediate term, but I believe it will longer term and that would be Israel’s day of reckoning.”

The Palestinian resistance movement Hamas says it is willing to provide to the court thousands of documents proving Tel Aviv's horrible crimes against the Palestinians in the besieged Gaza Strip.

More than 11,100 others, including 3,374 children, 2,088 women and 410 elderly people, were injured in the war.

Palestinians, meanwhile, have also urged the ICC to investigate Israel’s illegal settlement construction activities in the occupied Palestinian lands.

Fresh Israeli aggression

On Sunday, an Israeli military helicopter fired two missiles into Amal Farms in the strategic southwestern city of Quneitra, close to line separating the Syrian part of the Golan Heights from the Israeli-occupied sector.

The Israeli military has so far declined comment on the attack.

Press TV reported that the Israeli military has gone on high alert for the fear of a possible Hezbollah response to the regime’s new act of aggression.

Analysts believe the new Israeli assault is yet another attempt by Tel Aviv to change the balance of war in favor of the Takfiri militants fighting against Syria.

The new Israeli aerial raid comes as Syrian soldiers, backed by Hezbollah resistance fighters, have made numerous gains against the militants operating in Quneitra.

The Tel Aviv regime has carried out several airstrikes in Syria since the start of the nearly four-year-old foreign-sponsored militancy there.

Damascus says Tel Aviv and its Western allies are aiding the extremist terror groups operating inside Syria since March 2011.

The Syrian army has repeatedly seized huge quantities of Israeli-made weapons and advanced military equipment from the foreign-backed militants inside the Arab state.

Of course nothing will be done and who would have thought that America's stance would have been any different.

Justice will be done eventually, the western terrorists are devouring their own, it's only a matter of time until the people turn it back onto their governments.

BOTR!!!

Good luck with that...since Israel is NOT member of the ICC, nor a signatory to it...

And by the way, Iranian national tv is NOT the most unbiased of news services....

One of the best things available in the Television Age has been watching the Israelis beat the sh!t out of any military the local Arabs could muster. The Jews are more intelligent, better equipped, and simply fight with more courage than the opposition. The Arabs have always been worthless in a stand up fight. They are good at sneaking around in the dark and cutting peoples throats, but they run when faced with a determined foe.

Yet again, even more stupidity from the UN.
Palestine isn't even a country, and the UN now saying that Hamas isn't a terrorist organisation prior to Abbas applying for application to join the ICC is the height of stupidity.
What's next, will ISIS take western countries to the ICC.
Israel will ignore the ICC probe as they should.

He is another western Islamic apologist.

Not really true.

Zionists waged a war of terror against the British and Palestinians civilians in the 1940's. The Zionists won that war against Palestinian civilians and the British Government that really didn't care to defend the Arabs that it was supposed to protect. The nationalist Jordanian Government stepped in to prevent the slaughter of Palestinian civilians by Jewish death squads. The Jordanians managed to prevent the Israelis from capturing Jerusalem - despite it being their main goal. 1300 Jews were killed trying to storm the city in a religiously motivated assault. Overall, more than 6000 Jews were killed - mostly militants.

The Israelis won a decisive victory against socialist Arab forces in 1967. About 1000 Israeli soldiers were killed. The socialist Arabs seemed to have fared worst to of all the wars with Israel.

In 1973 Israel was nearly overrun by nationalist Arabs until nationalist imperialist Richard Nixon started flying in weapons and ammunition around the clock to support the Israeli military. Israel only won due to US assistance. Nearly 3000 Israeli soldiers were killed.

Hizbollah had a series of victories against Israel forcing their withdrawal from Lebanon in stages. Israel was foxed to make a full retreat from Lebanon in 2000 after losing about 1500 soldiers.

Since then the Hamas groups has had the most success against Israel, forcing Israel to retreat from the Gaza Strip, and withstanding a siege and many attacks by Israel. Israel has never won a war against Hamas despite sustaining few casualties.

The fact that Israel has stands today is largely due to almost no federal US politician able to get elected without the backing of Zionist Jews for their campaign funding. As a result Israel gets US aid of $3billion per year, along with billions of dollars in military gifts and aid.
