I had a friend who used to ask people for $2 at Town Hall Station each morning. He reckoned his average was around $200 for each two and half hour blagging session.

That's $1000 per week, tax free for less than 15hrs effort.

Indeed.

I'm sure he's actively looking for work.

I'm just concerned about his street "earnings", though: I'd hate to think that he wasn't paying his fair share of tax.

So now poor beggars should pay tax??? GIVE THEM A BREAK!!! Angry Angry Angry Angry Angry

You should declare your earnings, at least.

It may be that you don't actually have to pay any tax.

So now street beggars from all the worlds slums should at least declare their earning??? Talk about kicking somebody when they are down. I DON'T BELIEVE IT!!!

Everybody should declare their earnings.

Whom do you think pays for that bridge you live under?

Many of those people are mentally ill, self medicate , have no future and no home. They don't have it good at all.

Nothing 'hard' about declaring income and paying taxes.

Why do you think you should be exempt?

Incorrect.

Seeking asylum, in a boat, without a passport or visa in not illegal.

You have been misinformed.

Well it is illegal, until you claim asylum.

incorrect, their entry remains illegal regardless of asylum seeking status. The law is quite clear on this point, anyone who enters Australia without a valid visa does so ilegally.

do you enjoy repeating the same nonsense? It isn't illegal.

Normally repeating the same thing that has been proving to be false is a sign of mental disease. You need to check yourself out.

incorrect. The australian government says  is illegal, the entire legal system says it is illegal. I think it is you with the mental health issues.

oh *sigh*. Point to the exact laws that say it is ILLEGAL.

fcken hell, each and every time. It's like dealing with an idiot. Oh wait...
