The problem with this one is that it takes the cynicism to a whole new level. You don't seem to have grasped the point I made about hitching one cause to another in such a transparent way. The park sleeper person may actually enjoy camping just as the run-runner may enjoy running, but that is not the same thing as hitching a "more money for the rich protest" to the homelessness cause.

To be honest the park sleepers do raise money to help the poor and homeless. Did the mussey pass around a collection plate while they were breast beating outside about islamophibia in there ring ?

The point I am making is... What does it matter to the primary cause?

We are complex beings... as such we can incidentally have more than one reason for committing an act.

Those thousand Muslims could have protested Islamophobia anywhere in Oslo... They chose to find common cause with Jews fighting antisemitism. Of course there's no dissuading a cynic from his reinterpretation, but for others there's the human response of empathy to consider.

Maybe if enough Germans during the 30s had hitched the cause of German human dignity to that of protests against antisemitism there wouldn't have been a holocaust.

You've already proved you're a cynic.

You don't need another shot at the same question to make another cynical statement...

Hardly a reason in itself to complain about their actions.

FD's only purpose here is to ridicule muslims. He wouldn't be here otherwise.

Gandalf how do you feel about them throwing the "no to Islamophobia" bit into their chant while they surround a synagog?

incredibly sinister, thats for sure.

Personally, I think it shows one vulnerable minority showing solidarity with another one.

It also shows the incredible lengths you will go to to maintain the rage against muslims.

It looks to me more like they chose to hijack the Jews cause. What prompted the protest was a Muslim attacking a synagog - and they chose that protest to hitch their Islamophobia complaint to. I don't know what is worse - the cynicism or the shear stupidity of it. How are these people so clueless?

Well, QED on your cynicism.... At least you're loyal to that cause.

"Humanity is one and we are here to demonstrate that," Zeeshan Abdullah, one of the protest's organizers told a crowd of Muslim immigrants and ethnic Norwegians who filled the small street around Oslo's only functioning synagogue.

"There are many more peace mongers than warmongers," Abdullah said as organizers and Jewish community leaders stood side by side. "There’s still hope for humanity, for peace and love, across religious differences and backgrounds."

I wonder who the peace mongers were that he was referring too.

On face value this is a positive development. I have to qualify that though. They are of course making their symbolic stand in a rather safe place. I would like to see the same thing in the Netherlands and France, and the real hot spots of Muslim fanaticism.

While politicians blather about standing together against the terrorist, radical, militant etc we in the West have no defence against suicidal maniacs hopped up on religion, and Muslims are fully prepared to take advantage of this.

If this demonstration in the safe haven of Norway were to become a groundswell in Muslim populations throughout the world it would prove the apologists, and others who claim Muslims are just like us, to be correct. I would then modify my present very low opinion of Muslim culture. So come on Muslims, if you are so peaceful, then prove it.

More than 1000 Muslims formed a human shield around Oslo's synagogue on Saturday, offering symbolic protection for the city's Jewish community and condemning an attack on a synagogue in neighboring Denmark last weekend.

Chanting "No to anti-Semitism, no to Islamophobia," Norway's Muslims formed what they called a ring of peace a week after Omar Abdel Hamid El-Hussein, a Danish-born son of Palestinian immigrants, killed two people at a synagogue and an event promoting free speech in Copenhagen last weekend.

Fatah youth had been using that Island for over 15 years, what are you saying about no muslims there HB?

Quote:
It is with consternation that we have received the dramatic news of an awful terrorist attack against a summer camp ran by our comrades of the Norweigian labor youth

Fatah youth has participated for almost 15 years in the same summer camp.

Perhaps Brevik chose the wrong day, there was a boycott Israel and gaza flotilla party the day before the massacre,Fatah youth had been using that Island as a holiday camp for over 15 years.
