It is a place which represent the authority of the government and the people of Canada.
If its supposed to represent the government and the people of Canada, then it is badly out of touch. Unless I'm unaware of public bans on religious head dress. But I don't think so:
Quote:In 2013, the pro-independence Parti Quebecois (PQ) government moved to ban public servants from wearing Muslim head coverings such as hijabs, Jewish skullcaps or other obvious religious symbols.
But the bill died when the PQ was defeated in a provincial election last year.
When a court of law is in session,
the Judge(s) sitting in that court are the final arbiter of what is appropriate behaviour in that courtroom.
No one else.
If the Judge himself/herself behaves inappropriately [in court] then that would be for that body which has authority over the particular Judge to determine.
But i repeat; When a court of law is in session, the Judge(s) sitting in that court are the final arbiter of what is appropriate behaviour in that courtroom.
No one else.
.....except if you are a moslem woman in a hissy fit, because you are offended by someone exercising authority over her, which is not in accordance with Sharia law.
Deport the fractious, rebellious moslem woman.
p.s.
If i was the Judge in that Canadian court, AND,
if i had the lawful authority to do so, i would have WARNED that moslem woman to comply with my order in the court, and if she refused i would have ordered that she be detained, and charged with CONTEMPT OF THE COURT, and, i would have ordered her to suffer 5 strokes of a CANE on her NAKED buttocks, the punishment to be performed in a public place [with the public behind a barrier/fence].
But sadly, i concede, that i don't believe that Judges in Canadian courts, have the authority to order such punishments.
It is very sad.
