One might ask you the very same questions, Brian.

Cool

I've never claimed to be an expert on Islam, Lionel.  I can however point out the fallacies of the way some people here think it might work.    Roll Eyes

You propagate fallacies, Brain. For example, the fallacy that one must be made an authority on Islam to offer a valid opinion or criticism.

Stupid fallacy, you propagate it. And you are still too dozy to understand the difference between basic English words like who and whom.  That's why you are yawning so much - even simple things tax your negligible mental faculties.

Soren, you and your friends prove every day that you don't need to be very knowledgeable about Islam to offer a comment on how Muslims act, behave, think...   Roll Eyes

This old chestnut.

It's completely wrong, as I explained to one of my Muslim workmates.

Christian nuns are 'married to Christ', and as such their headdress signifies they do not lay down with mortal men for carnal pleasure. Nuns are not part of the laity as Muslim women are who wear 'the veil'.

Muslim women swanning around with their pretentious head-scarves is a fraud and a lie. They sleep with their men. They indulge in 'pleasures of the flesh' and are therefore 'fallen women' as Eve was.

Maybe so, Herbie but all those women wear head dresses for the same reasons Muslim women do - and as Soren keeps telling us - to mark them as different from what the rest of society looks and does...   Roll Eyes

Brian,

Lots of secularists share the same opinion of ISLAM, as i hold.

Does that mean that i, or they, are wrong, in our opinion of ISLAM ?

Heroes in Egypt Confront Islamist Ideology

by Michael Armanious
March 7, 2015

.......About a month after Sisi's heroic speech, in which he said, "We must revolutionize our religion," Ibrahim Eissa, an Egyptian journalist and another hero of the Middle East, backed him up.

Eissa said on Egyptian television, on February 3, that no one in Egypt has had the courage to admit that the ideology and activities of ISIS are based on Islamic sources.

Eissa added,

"when the people of ISIS perpetrate slaughter, murder, rape, immolation, and all those barbaric crimes, they say that they are relying on the sharia.

They say that this is based on a certain hadith, on a certain Quranic chapter, on a certain saying of Ibn Taymiyyah, or on some historical event.

To tell the truth, everything that ISIS says is correct."

Brian,

gandalf claims that ISLAM 'is the path to goodness and decency'.

polite_gandalf wrote on Mar 5th, 2015 at 9:29pm:

There are a great many muslims who are good decent people[/b] - and whats more (and this is the bit I want to stress)

....they [the good, decent moslems] believe the islamic religion is the path to goodness and decency.

Give credit for that, even if you don't share their doctrinal views. Don't become a grumpy old Yadda.

Brian,

QUESTION;
Why should i uncritically accept gandalf's opinion of ISLAM ???

Should i uncritically accept gandalf's opinion of ISLAM, simply because gandalf is a moslem ?

Is that your argument ?

'Yes', is just an opinion.

And your unsubstantiated opinion, isn't worth very much, imo.

You just don't understand me, brian.

You need to be more tolerant, and less bigoted, towards people who do not share your view of things.

In the opinion of others you are not just full of yourself, Brain but of  - how does PB like to say it? ah yes - stool. You are full of stool.

You ask others in broken English for the source of their authority on Islam and you bleat about 'maddrassa'.  The source of yours? A few secularist have a similar opinion as yours. In other words it's just your feeling. No authority, no scholarship, no learning.   But you are stupid and dishonest enough to think that you can set higher standards for others than you set for yourself

Really?  I've never read that comment from him, Soren.  Got a link to it?  Or is it just something you've made up and attributed to him to cover your own tracks?   Roll Eyes

My opinion about Islam is that it is the choice of the individual if they wish to be a part of that organised religion.  I have no right to interfere in their choice, Soren as I am neither a relative nor their parent.  You, OTOH appear to feel that you can criticise anybody for their decision to believe what they want.  I suppose it goes with your trick-cyclist training, interfering in the decisions of others.    Roll Eyes

See how stupid you are??

Yes, I do feel and think that I can criticise anybody for their decision to believe in crap, no matter how much they want to believe in it. Since when has your wanting to believe in something been a sufficient shield from criticism???

But being the racist, small-minded parochial bigot that you are, you reserve this shelter only for people who want to destroy Western civilisation. You have no similar scruples about attacking people who believe in upholding Western beliefs in the face of Muslim or other intrusions. You do not respect THEIR decision to believe what they want to believe.

I am amazed just how stupid you are to come up with a threshold of judgement - let people believe what they want to believe - that you violate and trample in every post you make.
But then you simply could not have the views you do if you were not a complete idiot with no rhyme or reason, no cohesion, no consistency from one turn in your fish bowl to the next.
