Somali troops ended the siege of a hotel in the capital but people were killed including the rebel gunmen occupying the building.

Special forces took control of the Maka Al-Mukarramah Hotel more than 12 hours after the gunmen stormed into the building.

Islamic extremist group al-Shabab claimed responsibility for the attack and vowed to carry out more.

The group is linked to al Qaeda and has been battling the UN-backed government in Somalia since 2006, frequently targeting civilians.

Another 28 people were wounded during the incident.

Among the dead was the Somali ambassador to Switzerland, Yusuf Baribari.

Other diplomats escaped by jumping from windows.

The attack began when a suicide bomber detonated his explosives-packed car outside the building.

Hotels in Mogadishu are often targeted by al-Shabab militants, who were driven from the city several years ago but still control southern rural areas.

Other than that the world will still be full of backward muslim abusers and gullibleMorons that will do what they are told. It is clear their ideology doesn't deliver on any spiritual level at all. Its all BS and they bloody well know it hence the threats, intimidation of their own and anger at the west calling them out on it. Even their own history doesn't support the mohammed prophet nonsense. He never even bloody existed historically. Just a story made up by some Caliph to seize the day and suck in the tards.
