That's not fair, Mothra. The old boy prefers to read writers who've never been to any Muslim countries or met any Muslim people. A Roger Scrotum video is better still.

But I will say that a good education in ME politics is marked by the complete absence of anything by Robert Fisk. Not reading Fisk is a requirement for mental clarity like not reading Edward Said after Orientalism.
