"Take yerr dogs back to America Depp" Barnaby Dope

In scenes akin to a Hollywood blockbuster, a showdown is looming between Pirates of the Caribbean actor Johnny Depp and Australian Agriculture Minister Barnaby Joyce over two tiny Yorkshire terriers.

The minister has given the Hollywood superstar just 50 hours to get his beloved pets Pistol and Boo out of Australia, otherwise, he says, they will be destroyed.

Depp failed to declare his dogs to customs authorities when he and his wife, Amber Heard, returned to Queensland by private jet last month.

"It's time that Pistol and Boo buggered off back the United States," Mr Joyce said.

"He's now got about 50 hours left to remove the dogs. He can put them on the same charter jet he flew out on and fly them back out of our nation.

Or if he had a brain he could have AQIS contact Depp and sort it out acimably.

come on Depp broke our rules on animals... why is it ok for so called Celebs to get away with stuff...if they came off the plane then they should automatically be destroyed... like would happen if you or I did it...

my daughter has sent an animal overseas.. just to NZ.. and it was one hell of a carry on with papers and vet fees.. horrendously expensive...why should he be any different..

If you or I smuggled 2 dogs through quarantine there would be no return order. Barnaby needs to grow some balls. Big fine for Depp after court prosecution and he loses the dogs. American animals can be carriers of rabies. Perhaps even a jail term appropriate here. Grow some friggen balls Joyce and prosecute the arrogant spud.

of course my daughter took her small dog to NZ...they went through about 3 months of vet checks .. and bills of course.. and customs.. special carry boxes.. it cost well over a $1000.. and this was about 6 years ago...

and he has two dogs...Joyce was on TV tonight and hes not backing away.. he said the Film Company knew the rules because he had bent over backwards when they wanted to bring in monkeys for the pirate film....so they were well aware of the regulations.... so Depp thinks he is above them

I think Barny needs to stick to politics rather than trying to replace Derryn Hynch as the human headline (and that is being extremely generous to say the least).

Depp is in the wrong, however, euthanasia is not the only solution to the issue and was simply Barny flexing his flaccid musculature for media sound bites.

Quarantine, removal and a hefty fine should suffice.

On the other hand, if the estimated $250 mil budgeted film was to be upset or stopped in anyway due to this undiplomatic spas attack from the minister responsible, Barny should be held fully to account for the significant loss of income that would cause. Particularly given his rhetoric regarding loss of income over cruel and inhumane (and ongoing) live export practices. Clearly, Barn only worries about some people's incomes.

Also, Barn might need to explain if cuts to bio-security funding in anyway influenced Depp's' apparent ability to get passed our border security measures.

There is quite a bit of explaining needed to be done here and I say that fully cognizant that Mr. Depp should also be penalised, because even if he did not have insight into our border security procedures etc (which is highly unlikely given the movie he is associated with has had extensive dealings with this due to their importation of monkeys and a range of other animals for the film), it is, in law, no excuse.

However, the clear threat to destroy the dogs is nothing more than flaccid chest beating from an imbecile living comfortably off the public teat.

Depp should never have bought the dogs in country

they should confiscate the dogs and quarantine them until either Depp leaves or the quarantine period is up, this talk of killing the dogs serves no purpose other than to attract headlines and inflame the situation ... Is Barnaby trying to get a role on Pirates of the Caribbean?

Well, one problem solved at least, the dogs are removed from the country without being killed....

So now there are about 200 jobs (or more) on hold.

To my mind, the bill for that should be shared evenly between Depp (for causing the initial problem) and Barnaby (for making it he public spectacle it has become, leading to 200 jobs being put on hold).

Now we all know that those workers lost incomes actually do not matter to either Mr Depp or Mr Joyce.

I hope people can remember that, the next time Barns opens his mouth about job losses if live export is interrupted....
