Well done Philippines!
May 19th, 2015 at 10:15pm

We ought hang our collective heads in  shame.

Link.

Quote:
The Philippines has signalled it is ready to take in thousands of migrants who are stranded on Asia’s seas, the first country to offer shelter after its south-east Asian neighbours blocked them from entering.

Manila, a signatory to the United Nation’s refugee convention, said it would help as it denied a local report claiming that the Philippines planned to push back boats carrying some 8,000 people fleeing persecution in Burma and poverty in Bangladesh.

“The Philippines has extended humanitarian assistance to ... ‘boat people’ and had even established a processing centre for Vietnamese travellers in the 70s,” said Herminio Coloma, a spokesman for the president, Benigno Aquino.

“We shall continue to do our share in saving lives under existing and long-standing mechanisms pursuant to our commitments under the [UN] convention.”

A country with an average poverty far higher (lower) than ours is prepared  to take in poorer people suffering persecution in many cases.

And the Philippines is a christian country. At least they haven't lost their moral compass.

Well done Philippines.

These people are tinted, aren’t they? And they speak English with American accents.

How vulgar.

Yeah but do they have an ex-trainee priest for prime minister?

Abbott promised no tax hikes & no cuts to the ABC

There's a 'budget emergency', so we will give $9 billion to the Reserve Bank, spend $12 billion on some dubious jets, $2 billion to bomb Iraq, etc.

The cynic in me asks whether Abbott/Morrison/Dutton have offered money to assist them, rather than take the matter into our own hands directly.

Get over it. Can’t they export more brides or something?

Mr Abbott is busy restoring our budget to surplus, you know.

By 2022/23 if the last trajectory pans out.

THAT's why I get up in the mornings ~ to hear Good News like this.

60% of hard-earned Australian tax-money is going to be ploughed back into the community to help with settling 200,000 foreigners who are pouring into this country every 12 months.

And then we have a quarter of a million Filipinos already settled in Australia and enjoying our First World facilities and Social Services.

Australia's Foreign Dole charity-handout to the Philippines should be reduced to zero. It's not our country. I don't go writing cheques for my neighbours because they're not doing as well as I am.

Filipino Christians might actually be listening to their Jesus, unlike our fake Christians that like to make baby Jesus cry.

I know, Herbie. And the next time a typhoon takes about a couple of hundred thousand of them, we should keep the money in the bank.

Fancy these people taking in refugees like this, it’s appalling.

If your neighbours were running away from murderers, Herbie, you’d pretend you weren’t home.

I wouldn't mind a little 'Italian' chop-chop stir-fry with my rice .. I must invite you over some time ... A few fava beans with a nice Chianti would go down nicely too ...

Cool
