The African Governments seem to lack the will and or the ability to protect what is left of their magnificent animal kingdom.
The game hunting in Africa is regulated by the governments, the animals they hunt have no impact on wild numbers because they were never in the wild.
People pay huge amounts of money to hunt in one of the poorest parts of the world,if it's done properly the local people really benefit and it helps animal conservation.
Poaching is a serious offence, they shoot poachers who take animals without paying for them.
It sounds like this guy had the money but paid the wrong people.
I am not into the trophy side of things, when a tiger escaped from a zoo in the USA and was shot should they skin it and sell the fur?
If you object to fur then surely you would have to object to leather in shoes-belts-jackets-wallets-handbags-skirts-underwear-leather chairs and lounges-car interiors-etc or you would be a bit of a hypocrite in my opinion.
