Senseless and totally unwarranted
Jul 30th, 2015 at 10:48am

A University of Cincinnati police officer was indicted Wednesday on murder charges in the fatal shooting last week of an unarmed black motorist who was stopped because of a missing front license plate.

Hamilton County prosecutor Joseph Deters called the July 19 death of Samuel Dubose, 43, "senseless" and "totally unwarranted."

There should be some more secure ways of affixing number plates that's for sure.

"I've been doing this for 30 years," Deters said after meeting with Dubose's family.

"This is the most asinine act I've ever seen a police officer make, totally unwarranted."

Maybe US police cars should have a roof rack to accumulate the bodies of black traffic offenders until the cops return to base.

You people are always wanting to put your hands in the taxpayers' pockets for more expense.
What's wrong with just pushing them off to the side of the road.

The police over there seem completely out of control. A couple of days ago i heard (and saw) on the news of a black woman who was pulled over and brutalised for failing to indicate when changing lanes.

See the absolutely shocking video of her arrest here:

http://www.abc.net.au/news/2015-07-22/video-shows-traffic-stop-of-woman-who-died...

Three days later she was found dead in her cell .. allegedly a suicide. Her family say suggestions that she was suicidal are preposterous, tat she was really excited to be starting a new job.

Anyway, arrested and held in custody for 3 days for failing to indicate? Seems bizarre.

He (the trooper) then points a Taser and shouts: "I will light you up."

"The trooper involved in the incident is white."      Shocked

Have you got some problem with police practices in general greg? Or is it US police in particular?
Would you like them to be disarmed? I'm sure MR Obama would be happy to do that if he wasn't such a powerless, limp-wristed waste of space.

This chart explains why black people fear being killed by the police
Updated by German Lopez on July 29, 2015, 2:25 p.m.

http://www.vox.com/2015/4/10/8382457/police-shootings-racism

"An analysis of the available FBI data by Vox's Dara Lind shows that US police kill black people at disproportionate rates: Black people accounted for 31 percent of police shooting victims in 2012, even though they made up just 13 percent of the US population.

Although the data is incomplete, since it's based on voluntary reports from police agencies around the country, it highlights the vast disparities in how police use force.

Black teens were 21 times more likely than white teens to be shot and killed by police between 2010 and 2012, according to a ProPublica analysis of the FBI data. ProPublica's Ryan Gabrielson, Ryann Grochowski Jones, and Eric Sagara reported: "One way of appreciating that stark disparity, ProPublica's analysis shows, is to calculate how many more whites over those three years would have had to have been killed for them to have been at equal risk. The number is jarring — 185, more than one per week."

I have a problem with police officers, anywhere in the world, killing unarmed people who have committed minor traffic offences.

But you have stated before that you think its great that the government turns the coppers into little revenue raising nazis that must fine people over the slightest infringement and thats what this copper was trying to do.

Raising revenue is a little different to killing unarmed citizens.

Don't you think?

I support police fining people for traffic offences.

I do not support them killing unarmed citizens for minor traffic offences.

Citizens should be able to go about their business without being harassed by police for utterly trivial matters in order to raise revenue.

Indeed.

However, traffic offences aren't just about revenue.

They're also about safety.

Citizens should be booked for traffic offences, without being killed by the police.
