Eat your collective hearts out Coles, Woolies and IGA, Aldi is pulling your pants down you robber barons.

You deserve every single thing you get. You have been reaming the Australians for decades, finally a hero comes to destroy the  monopoly you have had to yourselves for far too long.

Fact Aldi source 80% of their goods from Australia.

Fact Coles and Woolies won't release how much they import, basically because its most of it.

They love suckers like you Unforgiven.

I was shopping in my local Woolworths today, my favourite brand of biscuits which I had purchased a week before had risen %100.The big 2 are ripping consumers off and people are voting with their wallets.

You are a total dupe Mr. Baron.

'Source' is a vague term which means that they may get it from an Australian distributor who may import in bulk and may or may not package in Australia.

It does not necessarily mean grown or manufactured in Australia unless it say so on the label.

I wonder if its the fact, that Aldi are always cheaper than the other supermarkets.  Is it not good to see, that finally the main players, now have some serious competition.  I don't know about some people, but I think that some of main players, have had it too good for too long.   Sad

The libbos love monopolies in business and hate real competition that's why they hate renewable energy.

Why would any 'intelligent' group like 'renewable energy'...since it (renewable energy) is the least efficient, and the most expensive choice)??

crook,  aldi work on the ruthlessly efficient employment of minimal staff and the fact all staff must be multi tasked and perform all functions.

dont get me wrong, i like aldi and think it is a good bsuiness model, but i would bet that the retail workers union would be horrified to see you singing aldi's praises as there will be a lot more unemployed retail workers if aldi continue to take market share

its never fails to amaze me that an australian champions foreigners killing Australian business....but crook does it all the time..he cheered when the book companies went under.... then he has the hide to whinge about penalty rates....what a hypocrite.sad very sad indeed.

I am not even sure if Aldi allow the union.. to be honest I know they pay above award rates...so there must be some catch to it..but like you say.. you never see a staff member stopping even for a second...and its a luxury to have two check outs working.

So which supermarket is bringing in self serve check outs ? It's certainly not Aldis who employ locals to man their own checkouts Wink

they will it all started overseas..... they will only use self serve if stupid customers queue up to use them..

I refuse to use them...they are not cheaper so why should I put more money into the CEOs pocket.. not interested   I will always us e a checkout.. if they dont have a service counter then I will go where they do...

if you use the DIY then you are your own worst enemy.. its like the packing you want to do it yourself good luck to you...my experience over the years has been once they win they end up charging the same anyway...what annoys me with Aldi is they copy the brands an awful lot of people would be fooled by that its wrong and if your products are so wonderful.. why the need to make them look like the brands..check out the coffee its just about all identical..accept for the name..I disagree with that...

yes, but the conservatives are notorious at hypocrisy ... they love to talk the talk, but when push comes to shove, they're busy shoving their heads up their arse

Coles and Woolies swallowed up most of their competition while Howard was at the helm .. they sat back and let it happen. Now the libs want to pretend they care  Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy

Why? Do you do the meal planning for the week AND the shopping? I can never find any of my favourite items in Aldis.  Maybe it saves money if you have a 4-5 person family but I only shop for me so Woollies is my choice.  Wink

aussies my arse ... you have any idea how many of both coles and woolies shares are owned by foreigners?
try reading this if you want more information https://independentaustralia.net/business/business-display/who-owns-corporate-au...

At least Aldi has an 80% commitment to source locally ... coles and woolies would try to import EVERYTHING if they could get away with it

They are giving the customer what it wants. Cheaper goods than those made in Australia.

The NETT number of lines declared "goods from Australia" - stocked by Coles or Woolworths - FAR exceeds the NETT number of lines declared "goods from Australia" stocked by the Albrecht (Aldi) group

This is due to a very limited range offered by Albrecht's (Aldi) - compared to the extensive "product of Australia" range selection available from Coles and Woolworths - plus a good selection of imported specialty product

I'll challenge ANYONE to choose a food type, at random - and NOT able to find a "product of Australia" version in either of the Australian owned chains

Don't try this at Albrecht's/Aldi ((particularly in confectionary)

Both the big Australian owned chains employ around 120 Australian workers to every retail outlet

How do Albrecht's (Aldi) stack up against that ratio ?
