It surprises me that you endorse what Red said since your conduct on this forum is the very opposite of what he proposes.  "Happy Hiroshima day". Hypocrisy was very roundly condemned by jesus christ himself and yet you take pleasure in it all the time on this forum.

He's just called for the forced castration of people with "poor genes" in another thread.

Quire alarming.

http://www.ozpolitic.com/forum/YaBB.pl?num=1440068223/9#9

He wants to castrate poor people, kill Muslims, and blow up Mosques.

He sounds like a terrorist.

I didn't know that.  What an ugly little man.  And what's disturbing is that he regards himself a christian. Christianity takes discipline every day of your life to live the life that christ prescribed.  This guy clearly has no discipline and yet seems to think that when he dies God will welcome him into heaven. Well, wish I could be there when he presents himself.

I was raised a Catholic and whilst i no longer agree with them on many, many things, i do put some of my basic ideals down to that influence. Notably my views on refugees, people from other religions, acceptance of all, kindness, empathy and respect.

I was taught all of that by my parents and my wider education. I don't understand what it is that other so called religious people have been taught or what messages they took from their teachings.

We are all part of the one universe. Call it 'the force' God, Momhamed or whatever. There is no doubt a greater force than us exists.

Max Plank, the equal of Einstein with his work on quantum physics said that there is a force that exists which links everything it is beyond quantum physics and science but that force exists and controls everything.

You are either in harmony with that force or you are not. If you are not then your life is likely to be a train wreck.

My advice meditate...be still and become in harmony with everything around you. Our lives are too cluttered with the confetti of life. Be still and quieten your soul, the universe will answer you.

quite good red.

with many hours of intense empirical investigation YOU will realise that YOU do not exist in reality.

society, in all its realms, is just a giant constructed playground for the ego.

By killing off the ego (ego death)  you can get off the hampster wheel of chasing "sensations" to feed the ego.

The cheese on the hampster wheel is an illusion.
it doesnt exist
the scarey part is that you also dont exist.

Your ego wont let you come to this realisation because your ego thinks that it is important, it thinks that you are important.  But , as your ego exists in thought (and we have already said you cannot see reality in thought), you can only experience ego death in "experience" and watching your thoughts and eliminating them

whether we call this meditation or prayer or whatever...all religions point to this fact.

But it is a truth that cannot be communicated.
hence why all "institutions" trying to teach religion in "thought" must inevitably fail

The merger of christianity with the far right in the US has produced a christianty that is more focused on making money and the material world, then on leading the good life despite the teachings of christ himself.  It really is a bastardised form of christianity and one that people like Sprint are happily adopting because the last thing they want is for their religious beliefs to interfere with their hatreds and their enjoyment of life.

Indeed Sparty ... them's some  scary people. It's more than that though. Christians have been behaving very poorly for longer than that. The church, for example, has always been corrupt.

I don't know if i just got lucky with my religious education. It doesn't seem typical.

We had humility drummed into us. We were taught to think of what Jesus would do in approach to charity, ethics and morality, concern for people's welfare and acceptance of others. You know, being a 'Christian' .. following the Christ. I don't see any of that in most people who call themselves religious ... Sprint is a stunning example.

"Conservative Christian reality star Josh Duggar admits to cheating on his wife"

http://www.stuff.co.nz/entertainment/tv-radio/71320856/Conservative-Christian-re...

Let's have a read.....

"Calling himself "the biggest hypocrite ever", ex-reality star Josh Duggar has apologised for a "secret addiction" to pornography and for cheating on his wife.

"While espousing faith and family values, I have secretly over the last several years been viewing pornography on the internet and this became a secret addiction and I became unfaithful to my wife," he said in a statement posted on Thursday on the family's website.

The statement was apparently spurred by Duggar's name appearing among millions exposed in a data breach of customers of the Ashley Madison website, an online service that caters to men and women looking to cheat on their spouses. Leaked data showed that a Josh Duggar, whose address was the same as the reality TV star, was a member of the cheating website from December 2012 to October 2014.

In his statement, Duggar did not address whether he had used AshleyMadison.com, nor did he detail the exact nature of his marital infidelity."

Now Greg....could you kindly explain how this particular example suddenly becomes TYPICAL of the Christian right?

Oh and just so you know....I'm disgusted by the male individual in the above article.

He's a member of the Christian right.

The name he used to describe himself was correct.

Moreover, it applies to most of those from the Christian right.
