Accused of war crimes.

I suppose you'd call him "a good man".

After all, that's what you called the guy who molested five young girls.  Remember?

I didn't use the word 'hate'.

I said 'douche bag', which was aimed at Abbott for making such a ridiculous statement.

Mind you, I don't have that much time for soldiers.

You're not very good at this, are you?

Even a moderate student of English would be able to work out that your one word response (it is hyphenated) had no object.

It seems however, you are happy to apply it to both.

You really aren't very good at written communication, are you?

Really??

You're okay with the mutilation of corpses?

Better that than the mutilation of women by taxi drivers.

Oh, the SA Spina Bifida boy is back

I preferred your pre-edit comment more.

Very pithy, not to say, accurate...

Early onset menopause???

I'm not sure that's possible after gender reassignment.

attempt to smear an honourable SAS Capt.

Seems contradictory doesn't it ?

His duty in the forces would indicate a strong positive in this area but then he goes and joins this Liberal party so who can tell.

Yes it is always better to not bother making sure that you killed someone important, because knowing that would be stupid and a waste of time.

Yep them movies from WWII are not helping you at all here are they?

Yes - I'm astounded.... the Regiment used to be the province of gentlemen of high intellect and ability to get on with others well and generate alliances.  The unfortunate focus of the Afghani conflicts on what is essentially Commando or well-trained Infantry work as opposed to the core purpose of the Regiment has created a dichotomy in thinking and in recruitment and training within it - again.

I think it will be a long, long time before the Regiment returns to its profession, rather than, as at present, its orders.

Partly this is the fault of the region in which we lie, partly the different ethos between Australian service people and British, with a decided difference, or several, between Australian SASR and the British SAS.

It's a calling - not a job.. and unfortunately I believe our politicians have once again used it as a photo shoot op rather than in its core role.

It's not that uncommon with suspected high value targets - no time for fingerprinting or DNA testing.  Those guys would have been high value suspects in need of identification.

Maybe the media should just shut up for a change.

Not on this occasion.  Hastie put himself out there, and that meant this issue was always going to be out here as well.  As I've said, his best bet is to come totally clean and state that behanding was SOP, as you have pointed out is so very likely the case.

Both he and Abbott were/are fools if he/they thought this would just be washed away on the basis that he is ex ADF, so ipso facto, all must be well.  It does not work that way and Abbott knows it, even if Hastie did not.

DNA testing requires a hair. Hand severing requires the Afghani police to have done their job and collected criminal.suspects’ fingerprints.

Can you imagine that happening anywhere in Afghanistan?

No, I can't imagine that.  Even more reason why Hastie needs to come clean with the electorate.  He needs to domonstrate that he was not the hands on, in theatre on hand OIC of a mob of SAS diggers who, as a matter of routine, mutilate corpses.

Not at all.  I think the database was made up of suspects checked and released at different times, in the case of international operatives perhaps passport etc applications from willing nations, and even from US entry records, for those who have visited the US.

The high value targets are generally not just hill muj - they get around a bit.  The suspicion must have been there that these were not just local jihadis.....

OH - do you understand what is this 'cordon and search'?  Villages are cordoned off and villagers checked for documents and authenticity in conjunction with local forces, and in this day and age, are often finger-printed if of military age etc, even if allowed to go their way.

He most certainly will not, Aussie. He’ll leave any talk of this to the ADF.

Operational matters, innit.

The 0.001% of Canning who have served the ADF in any capacity won’t skew the erection results a jot.
