One royal commission at a time thank you very much.

We've had 132 so far....

A Royal Commission into union activities to be followed soon after by another that delves into the sources of funding of the Liberal party. It's coming after the next election, it's just a matter of when.

These investigations are inadequate because they have too narrow a scope.

The Liberals are investigating this particular matter in-house, but that is as likely to be about damage control and coverup as a proper impartial investigation.

I have said it numerous times before - we need a Federal version of ICAC. Existing bodies are inadequate because they lack the scope, the powers or the jurisdiction to do a proper investigation.

We also need fundamental reforms in proper accountability for the not-for-profit sector. The Victorian Liberal Party and the Health Services Union both ran into similar problems with embezzlement of over a million dollars by trusted officials and a lack of accountability that allowed this to go undetected. The penalties for the perpetrators are also manifestly inadequate. Will either of them end up in jail?

couldnt agree more... yet it took SHORTARSE 8 years to finally own up he received $40.000 worth of donated labour when running his campaign....8 YEARS....wow..
