Why not?  We're currently struggling mightily for a small piece of the carcasse of what was once a great country? 

First it was men and women fighting, by government diktat, over the juiciest meats of a society, then it was the political surgeons fighting over which part of that society/economy should be extirpated first and thrown on the rubbish heap at the back of the hospital, then it was the remnants of organised labour fighting with Neo-Socio-Fascism over how much of the remaining stringy meat of the country could be turned into a messy stew, then it was government cannibalising the very public service that saw the gifting of much gold to women from the first engineered conflict, and now we are down to the bare bones of the ordinary person at the bottom struggling to stay afloat under the weight of over fat and over paid politicians and business cronies dragging them down and selling them out to any foreign conglomerate with ready cash with which to line their own pockets.

This is the final fight - lose this one and there's nothing left but dire poverty for the majority, and an endless struggle to even get a government pension at the end of it.

Well, yes . . . sought of. At the same time we accept every new distraction dangled before us. How can you expect people to make good judgments? I am not even opposed to materialism, just as long as it is good material. Trouble is, its not. Its just more junk that will end up in landfill. And there are a million junk philosophies, ideologies, and religions clamoring for our attention too. And fooking intellectual leftists who should know better, are trying to tell us that the culture that brought us anti-biotics and trial by jury is no better than a bunch superstitious tribes.
