Then there is the hydrogen that can be generated using renewable energy and that is where your planes and tractors can get their power. We obviously won’t see electric interstate trucks but no reason we can’t see hydrogen powered trucks, planes etc. A cleaner fuel than petroleum fuels.

Coal can be left in the ground as energy source and be used as feed stock for making plastics etc.

Plenty that can be done. Most will be cheaper than now—and no reliance on overseas oil countries—and definitely cleaner.

But Hydrogen is dangerous stuff to use for transport type vehicles. Look at the Hindenberg.

In its gaseous state it's highly combustible, and as a compressed liquid, there's the risk of terminal frost bite

BMW had a good hydrogen system going, but I think it was the infrastructure issues that limit it although I don't know why. Hydrogen is generated by electricity  and probably from coal or gas power stations.

A symptom of Maria Costel's bare cupboard and 100% empty glass.

can you explain how the world will go without fossil fuel of an y kind...fossil fuel is involved in just about everything humans depend on...

it ok telling us about their experiments to prove humans are causing the ice to melt...

but I havent seen any experiments on how we humans can live without fossil fuel..

I am just curious thats all...I am sure you have all the answers..

I thought you would never ask.

It is indeed easy. The world could switch to renewables like solar energy, wind energy, hydro, tidal energy and nuclear energy. It just takes time and money.

Currently electrical vehicles are gaining in application and acceptance. Even if electric vehicles operate from fossil fueled power generation, the vehicles themselves are more energy efficient efficient than traditional combustion engine vehicles. Furthermore, power station conversion rate of fuel to electrical energy is 55+% - 75+% (combined cycle heat recovery) compared with car combustion energy conversion rate of about 29%.

Working on Tesla supposedly 230 miles on 60 kWh battery, a Toyota Camry would require 9.3 US gallons for 230 mile range which has an energy equivalent 307 kWh. Therefore an electric vehicle uses about 20% partly because of combustion engine inefficiency and partly because electric vehicle recovers energy which is otherwise dissipated by brakes with a combustion engine. The disparity is far higher for stop-start city driving where fuel consumption of combustion engines greatly increases.

Please don't thank me.

Yeah & fossil fuels to make all the equipment to harvest the renewables.  Grin

I'm always impressed when a lady is so interested in cars and climate science.
