Polljacking threads
Sep 24th, 2015 at 9:26pm

Some posters have a tendency to exploit the ability to create polls on threads that they did not create. Often these polls are not relevant to the thread topic or are created simply to annoy others.

Some examples of useless polls not created by the OP:
Most annoying of the new Cabinet (Poll title: Most gifted of the new cabinet)
Penalty rate cuts backed by workers across NSW (Poll title: Poll to stuff up Armpits Topic - Is Armpit a d1ckhead?)
Turnbull was Australias worst ever Comms minister (Poll title: Hands up if you know Stephen "Stalin" Conroy was worse!)

Is it possible to do something about this, such as limiting the polling function to the thread creator?

When politicians offer you something for nothing, or something that sounds too good to be true, it's always worth taking a careful second look.

Yes, 99% of polls created are rubbish.  More often than not just childish smears on the OP.

Unless you started the thread, I don't believe you should be able to start polls, or change the topic title.

If there is 'active moderation', a Report Button with a popup allowing the reporter to provide a succinct narrative as to why it's being reported.  Cool

This would certainly highlight an active "TROLL" as you describe.  Wink

PS..... A decent moderator should be able to weed out the occasional 'BS Whinge' about someone who merely disagrees with the complainer about this or that.  Wink
