No, you did not, and I did not assert you had.

There would be many 'excuses' for one person to hit another, and for the other to retaliate.

how many times has that happened btw....

as many as men have given out blackeyes????

Here is a link to some, and no, I am quite sure there have been many black eyes (men and women)....far more than penis severing.

I don't think there is a solution (human nature is human nature) other than......if you discover your partner (male or female) is violent, get out of there.

Do you happen to have a source for this? I'd certainly expect it to be higher among some cultures than others, but I have not been able to find a source when I have been looking for this in the past.

Family violence is about power. More importantly, it is about a power imbalance.

This is why it is so dangerous and so insidious.

The partner that perpetrates violence usually has more power in the relationship and uses that power to violent ends.

It most commonly occurs from men to women as men tend to have more power in the relationship. That said, women are increasing in representation and family violence is a very large problem in LGBT partnerships.

There is far too little support for men who are victim and to add to that there is a societal stigma regarding masculinity that stops many men coming forward. This is an issue for men to address. Women can only support and not lead in building support for men. I don's think it's fair to resent superior services for women per se because women have fought very, very hard for the services we have over many, many years and the need for them is paramount. In fact there are not enough services in place. We as a community need to extend our support for more intervention and support services.

I disagree with Grap over the need for AVO's. They can and do save lives. The most dangerous time for a woman and children leaving a DV situation is directly afterwards. AVOs can keep needed distance and invrease police responding times and powers.

And to the knob-ends who said it is ok to give a woman a slap? It's not. It's not ok EVER to put your hands on another person in anger. Ever. Whoever you are.

women extend the POWER to outside the relationship.. they tend to get rather ugly and use any weapon...usually children to start with... to get back  neither is acceptable.....

we need to find a way to teach children respect for each other....right from a young age...you cant teach an old dog new tricks.. you have to start early...

look at what some school teachers have to put up with????...its disgusting...do we try to fix that bad attitude.. not that I know of...both men and women need to respect each other...and thats mean all females and all men...not just those you come into contact with...... then you learn if you meet someone who doesnt treat you the way you expect and they know how you feel.. then you can walk away... some men and I do believe its mostly men refuse to go to counselling or to take it seriously....
these problems all need dealing with from a young age..

like telling men to care for their health and have checks... which they dont do.. teach them from young this is part of life.. get on with it..you will be better for it.

Cods, other than Alice, the rest of us do not live down rabbit holes.  Get a grip of reality.  War, famine, drought, pestilence, flood, fire, tsunami..etc etc etc exist, as does human nature, and if there is a solution, no-one has yet found it, and it will never be found by stating the bleeding obvious.

I have no idea why you bother.  Maybe you can tell me?

Is that you not being abusive, cods?

Yeas, I know, So was Steve Waugh, Adam Goodes, Ita Buttrose, Geoffrey Rush, Lee Kernoghan, Pat Rafter, Mark Taylor, Cathy Freeman, Paul Hogan and a cast of other headliners.  Cuts no mustard with me, cods.

Oh dear.....is that more personal abuse?

Quote:

I speak my mind, cods, and when I do, I am not looking for support.  However, in the case of the Morecombs, the vast....no.....the overwhelming majority on the Sunshine Coast (of which I am but one) are sick to death of the way they have milked money (on which they live and pay their bills) from the death of their son.

I've seen and read that link before, cods. What's special about it, given the circumstances?  Would not any Mother in the same situation say exactly the same?

Quote:
the more you say the more people here realise what a bull artist you really are.....

Oh noes!!!!  Cods, really......is that more abuse????

Quote:

How can fact become a brag, cods?   I did, way back in the 1970s.  It was unique ground breaking stuff then.

Quote:
.then you talk about picking up ugly foul mouth mothers with their screaming kids...from disgusting womens refuges...who are being evicted .

No cods, I did not say the Refuges were disgusting.  That is you making stuff up to suit your rant.  Further, I did not say the women were ugly.  In fact, most were quite attractive physically, and that is another mystery to me.  Which is why seemingly good looking young women get involved with dick head young men.  Yeas, I did say they were verbally abusive to their kids, and they were.  And yeas, some were being evicted.  Cods, there is a real world out here, and in this particular case, I am but a small part of it, so I know.

Quote:
yes we know what little respect you have for women...

You have no idea cods.  You have selected a pigeon hole for me, and you make the mistake of trying to stereotype me into it.  You are wasting your time.

Quote:
and I think I know what little respect most on here have for you.

I guess I'll maybe just have to live with that, cods, hey?  Hang on......since when did you think for 'most on here?'

Argh, ay, m'lady - and that is precisely why the intervention of the State without warrant is a disturbing influence on the power structure within a relationship, and why handing to one side the Hydrogen Bomb of the State kicking the shyte out of the other will always and only end in pain for all.

This approach must cease immediately before full-scale war and Mutually Assured Destruction become the norm between men and women.

If there's MAD between men and women, there'll be no people left.

Chrissakes - she left with the boy and made the mistake of allowing a nut case access to him.... a certified nut case, fer chrissakes .. not your average dad who loves his kids and would die for them...

Jayzuz!  Rose Batty, apart from being a nothing blip on the Oz of The Year, is just a very unusual case, and not anywhere near the norm.

Get a grip!
