I don't think so.

If you had a political goal opposed to the Australian military in the middle east, you would not perform acts designed to denigrate Islam and increase the thoughts amongst the public of the necessity of a military to protect them from these types of people.

This attack was not terrorism! It was a response to illegal police interference! Which is now being covered up by having the act terrorism.

Turkey is a Muslim nation and a member of NATO.

Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait and others are also US aligned when it comes to the military.

As are Jordan and Egypt.

And if you want to raise the point that this kid was from Iran...

He was from Iran. Not the Iranian military or secret service. If he was he definitely would not have undertaken this act.
