Is Ozpolitic dying?

Can anybody recommend alternative active Australian discussion forums in case Ozpolitic dies?

The web site is behaving strangely today ignoring paragraphs and capitalizing some words in sentences. Actually this appears to have been caused by Google Chrome which was translating English into English. Now seems to have stopped translating.

The level of abuse is not higher at all, we just don't have a swear filter to filter out the naughty words. So instead of someone here calling a poster an idiot over there they may be called a f...... Idiot. So what? This is Australia, if you ever get out in the real world you'll see that many Australians speak like that. If you want to kept in cotton wool best you stay here. The question was asked about other forums and I answered it, I do think it's funny you're giving advice about a forum you claim not to know anything about other than Chinese wispers. Roll Eyes

As for a "secret board" yes we have a board that only members with three hundred posts can access, that's to weed out the trolls, it only seems to bother trolls or those that think they're "special" and deserve some sort of "special" treatment.

OzPolitic is healthy, robust certainly not dying. Like all public interests medium it will have highs and lows of activity.

The warm weather drives people out of their little winter cacoons and into the spring warmth.

Maybe they are actually getting away from the keyboards and doing, believe it or not, some physical activity that requires a little more than tapping key boards. Wink

I think you have been drinking from the bottle of utopian wine. One of the greatest discoveries of the internet was that once everyone now has a voice, we discover that so much of the clamour is exceedingly stupid, vile or both.

And yes, I was singling out Cods in my first line for her truly spectacular meltdown where she infers I am a paedo sympathiser all because I apparently dared to suggest that there might be a wide range of offences within that category. I am familiar with people who have trigger points/topics that can result in explosions of bad behaviour. However, it only explains it. It does not exclude it.

That said, I enjoy the nature of your posts. You have that rare ability to think, to argue, to debate and get to the crux of the matter. We should get a good thread going on a complex and controversial topic. First we will attract the simpletons and the ideogues, but if we can dig through the poo and vomit, there could be a good converstion going!

and sadly when I went in long time ago a few of the females also resorted to his type of "banter"

I am sorry it was more than using the F word...which basically shocks no one today..almost no one.

and no Australian speaks like that in front of me or my grandkids....

like I say it could all be very well acceptable where you come from and no worries about the company that is exposed to it.....

but not where I come from we show some respect. towards each other.....

and I have never heard any one using what you clearly claim is acceptable aussie language....ever..

in anger yes I believe its used..

but its not the norm where I come from.
