WELL, that didn’t take long.

A glass-bottomed bridge built on the side of a cliff in China has cracked just weeks after opening to the public.

Thousands of tourists were walking along the 300-metre long path at Yuntai Mountain Scenic Park in Xiuwu county yesterday during the week-long National Day holidays when a glass pane broke.

Witnesses said the 68cm-wide glass pane cracked when they walked over it, and the screams of one woman yelling “It’s broken. It’s really broken” caused a miniature stampede towards the end of the path.

A tourist, known by her internet screen name ‘lidonghaishuohezainihaowodehai,’ posted pictures of what she said was the shattered glass on Weibo, the Chinese equivalent of Twitter.

Breakable ... a picture of the cracked pane posted on Chinese social media. Picture: Weibo/lidonghaishuohezainihaowodehai.
She said she heard a sudden bang and felt a shake under her feet.

*Sure....they're anti competitive as any subsidised job is.  It wouldn't be there without the tax payer.  Very damned difficult for a brainwashed collectivist to understand that I know....  (swaggy) *
