Tasmanian Independent Senator Jacqui Lambie has revealed during the debut of Channel 9’s talk show The Verdict that she has received "credible" death threats – including a warning to shut her mouth or face beheading.

In March the former Palmer United Party member publicly announced she had been the subject of threats, presumably as a result of her comments about Islam and her criticism of Sharia Law.

Tonight, in a chat with The Verdict’s host Karl Stefanovic, she details the threats, revealing the full extent of a shocking letter sent to her office.

“It was a credible threat,” Ms Lambie tells Stefanovic, in the sneak peek clip released ahead of tonight’s airing.

She reveals the letter contained graphic photos, including one depicting a beheading, and threats to come to her office and “take her by surprise” if she didn’t stop voicing her opinion on Islam.

Australian Federal Police and local police were made aware of the threat earlier this year and investigated. Ms Lambie was warned to avoid South Australia – believed to be where the letter originated – and take extra precautions.

But as the fiery Tasmanian tells Stefanovic tonight, she refused to back down.

“I will not tolerate this kind of behaviour,” she said.

“I’m proud of being born and bred Australian and a born and bred Tasmanian – if I let them scare me, it would be letting them take control of me.”

Ms Lambie also reveals the extra security her office was forced to take in the wake of the scare, including shatter-proof glass.
