Hamas praise terrorists for shooting innocent civilians.

Four people have been killed and six wounded in a shooting at a popular restaurant area of Tel Aviv, Israeli police and hospital sources said, with police describing it as a terrorist attack.

Video posted on social media showed people running panicked from the scene.

Police said two gunmen were involved in the attack. Both were reportedly shot and disarmed by security forces.

"We are talking here about a pretty serious terrorist incident," Tel Aviv police chief Chico Edri told reporters.

"Of the two terrorists, one was arrested and the other wounded by gunfire," Mr Edri said.

Police added that the two Palestinian attackers were both residents of village near Hebron in the occupied West Bank.

Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh praised the attacks on social media, but the militant group did not claim responsibly for them.

Haniyeh praises Jerusalem terrorist

One week after Hamas leader's daughter received medical treatment in Israel, group's top official in Gaza praises 'martyr' who killed infant in Jerusalem light rail attack

Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh praised Wednesday the "martyr" Abed a-Rahman a-Shaludi, a resident of the east Jerusalem neighborhood of Silwan, who carried out the attack on Jerusalem's light rail that killed 3-month-old baby Haya Zissel Braun
Earlier this week, reports emerged that one of Ismail Haniyeh's 13 children had received medical treatment in Tel Aviv's Ichilov Hospital and had been hospitalized for a week.  In the past, Haniyeh's sister and granddaughter were also admitted for medical treatment in Israel.

Four killed, six injured in Tel Aviv shooting near military HQ

Jun 8, 2016

At least four people have been killed and six others injured

Police announced that one assailant was arrested and another was taken to hospital after being shot following the incident that took place at the Sarona food and retail market near the Israeli military’s main headquarters on Wednesday night.

According to initial reports, the attackers were dressed as ultra-Orthodox Jews, but the police later claimed that they were of Palestinian origin.

The attack was launched in two locations, one in the actual complex and one in an adjacent street.

“The preliminary investigation indicates that there are a number of wounded who are being treated by paramedics,” said a statement released by Israeli police. “We ask the public not to approach the area.”

Medial sources said that several of the wounded are in a critical condition.

“When I arrived at the scene I saw a woman who was unconscious and not breathing and in critical condition. We began resuscitation efforts. We also treated numerous other individuals who suffered gunshot wounds and wounds from shrapnel,” said a medical volunteer.

Tel Aviv terror attack: 4 killed, 2 suspects arrested

Published on 8 Jun 2016

Four people were killed in central Tel Aviv on Wednesday night after two suspected Palestinians fired on them, Israeli police said. Another seven people were wounded in the shooting, which took place near the popular open-air Sharona market. Two Palestinian suspects have been captured, Israeli police spokesman Micky Rosenfeld said. While one of them was shot and is being treated at a hospital, another was arrested at the scene. CCTV's Stephanie Fried is there and has that story.

British-Palestinian schoolgirl expelled from public speaking competition

A British-Palestinian schoolgirl has been expelled from a public speaking competition after a video of her moving entry went viral last week.

Leanne Mohamad, a 15-year-old student at Wanstead High School in London, won a regional final of the Jack Petchey Speak Out Challenge with her speech ‘Birds not Bombs’, in which she describes the historical and contemporary reality for Palestinians under Israeli settler colonialism.

The Jack Petchey-sponsored competition is run by Speakers Trust, and bills itself as the world’s biggest youth speaking event.

Responding to complaints by anti-Palestinian blogger Edgar Davidson, Speakers Trust CEO Julie Holness said that they took his “concerns very seriously”, and confirmed that Mohamad would not be sent through to the next stage of the contest, and “will not be speaking at the Grand Final.”

The decision to expel Mohamad, made by a Speakers Trust and Jack Petchey Foundation judging panel, was based on her breaching two rules: that “the speech must have a positive and uplifting message”, and that “a speaker should never inflame or offend the audience or insult others.”

Holness offered to forward Davidson’s email to Mohamad’s school, and said the blogger was “welcome to use [my home office number] at any time.”

Responding to the news, Mohamad tweeted: “Why is it called a “Speak Out Challenge” when I am then silenced?” While Speakers Trust has removed the speech from their website and YouTube Channel, it has been re-uploaded here. (still on youtube)

Davidson last year praised English Defence League-founder Tommy Robinson as “simply a British patriot.” His blog’s ‘Key Readings’ includes an article that states “Palestinians are a fake creation.”

Attackers in disguise

Police said the attackers were two Palestinians from the same family from the town of Yatta, south of the city of Hebron in the occupied West Bank.

Haaretz newspaper reported that the attackers were disguised as ultra-Orthodox Jews.

Ramadan permits halted

The announcement of the suspension of entry permits for thousands of Palestinians during Ramadan was announced on Thursday morning.

"All permits for Ramadan, especially permits for family visits from Judea and Samaria to Israel, are frozen," said a statement from COGAT, the unit which manages civilian affairs in the occupied West Bank.

It said that 83,000 Palestinians would be affected, adding that 200 residents of the Gaza Strip who had received permits to visit relatives during Ramadan would also have access frozen.

According to unconfirmed reports by police sources, two assailants had dressed up as ultra-Orthodox Jews.

So which is it?  http://www.orthodox-jews.com/orthodox-jewish-clothing.html

The attackers were dressed as Hasidic Jews, said a law enforcement source briefed by Israeli officials. Police officers shot one of the suspects. The other surrendered, Rosenfeld said.

http://edition.cnn.com/2016/06/08/middleeast/israel-tel-aviv-shooting/index.html

According to reports in the Israeli media, citing witnesses and emergency workers, the two shooters were dressed in smart attire, white shirts, ties, jackets and black pants. Initially it had been reported that they were dressed as ultra-Orthodox Jews but that was discounted by Israel police spokeswoman Luba Samri.

An eyewitness told Israeli media that the attackers at Sarona Market were dressed as strictly Orthodox Jews, while another said that the other shooting took place at the Max Brenner chocolate restaurant.

I'm not trying to stir anyone but why is it that no one can talk about Palestine without someone dealing out the victim card?

How long is all this going to go on?
Why did the two shooters dress as Orthodox Jews when the Orthodox Jews do no approve of the zionist government or what the govt is doing to the Palestinians?
All just too weird and according to quite a few here shouldn't be discussed.  Why?

Resolving Israel-Palestine issue getting out of reach: EU's Mogherini

Jun 8, 2016

High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Federica Mogherini has warned of the escalation of violence in the occupied Palestinian territories, saying the prospect of resolving the decades-long Israeli-Palestinian conflict is getting out of reach.

“Still, we are not moving forward. The opposite is true: the perspective we say we want to achieve of [the so-called] two-states is fading away,” Mogherini told the American Jewish Committee Global Forum in Washington on Tuesday.

Mogherini further called for renewed talks between Israelis and Palestinians, saying “it would be great if new and meaningful negotiations could begin immediately,” but stressed that there were no conditions for that to happen.

“We believe our recommendations will be hopefully a contribution to recreate the conditions for the two sides to get back to meaningful negotiations,” she added.

The last round of the so-called peace talks between Israelis and Palestinians collapsed in 2014. Tel Aviv’s illegal settlement activities in the occupied lands and its refusal to release senior Palestinian prisoners were among major reasons behind the failure of the discussions.

Elsewhere in her remarks, the EU foreign policy chief cautioned against renewed violence between Israelis and Palestinians, saying, “If the situation does not improve, it will get worse.”

The occupied territories have been the scene of heightened tensions since August 2015, when Israel imposed restrictions on the entry of Palestinian worshipers into the al-Aqsa Mosque compound in East al-Quds (Jerusalem). The Palestinians say Tel Aviv seeks to change the status quo of the holy Muslim site.

“The next escalation of violence could spiral out of control. We don’t want to face the next Gaza war,” Mogherini said.

Israel has waged three wars on Gaza since 2008, including the 2014 offensive, which left more than 2,200 Palestinians dead and over 11,100 others injured.

On May 3, an international conference was held in the French capital, Paris, to set the framework for the upcoming French-led initiative to revive negotiations between Palestinians and the Tel Aviv regime with the participation of both Palestinian and Israeli negotiators.

Over 20 representatives mainly from the UN, the EU and the Arab League attended the meeting to plan for the international summit expected to be held by the end of the year. Palestinians and Israel did not attend the meeting.

The meeting's final statement voiced alarm at the situation on the ground due to Israel's acts of violence against Palestinians and unlawful settlement building.

'Free Palestine' speech by London schoolgirl Leanne Mohamad 'censored' claim supporters

Following a complaint from blogger Edgar Davidson about the speech, the Speakers Trust said that Wanstead High School's Mohamad would not be progressing to the next stage of the competition. Davidson has accused the 15-year-old's speech of containing "harmful anti-Semitic tropes and blood libels".

According to the Jewish Chronicle, CEO Julie Holness said in a reply to Davidson on 29 May: "A Speakers Trust and Jack Petchey Foundation judging panel decided unanimously against sending Leanne Mohamad through to the next stage and she will not be speaking at the Grand Final. These were precisely our concerns."

some more comments to read here:https://m.facebook.com/PeacehouseUS/posts/546284928887096

Speakers Trust have released a statement in which they claim they “temporarily suspended” the video of Leanne’s speech to protect her from abuse. This does not change the fact that they have appeased the abusive Edgar Davidson, reassuring him they had decided not to send Leanne through to the grand final of the public speaking competition, on the grounds she violated the fundamental rule to never “inflame or offend the audience or insult others.” (see the CEO’s letter to Davidson below that contradicts their statement)

Schoolgirl's winning anti-Israel speech 'unanimously' voted out of competition final

http://www.thejc.com/news/uk-news/158735/schoolgirls-winning-anti-israel-speech-...

Letter to the CEO of Speakers’ Trust about the anti-Israel speech controversy

"I love the idea of the Speakers’ Trust and believe in the right to free speech. However, in terms of lies and misrepresentation, I’m not a fan of defamatory language intended to spread hatred against any individual, group or other such entity existing in this world within which we are so fortunate to live. Therefore, I want to suggest a couple of changes to the statement issued by Speakers’ Trust and the Jack Petchey Foundation.

I am naturally relieved to hear that Leanne Muhammed will not be going forward in the Speak Out Competition. However, my concern is that I’m unsure if you realise that allowing Leanne to retain the title of “winner" positions anyone in opposition of her diatribe as “perpetrator" and Leanne as "victim”. I am alarmed at your statement clearly indicating that the only reason she is not being put forward is due to “abuse”. Such statement denies any responsibility on your part clearly laying the blame for failing to be selected at the door of those who have expressed their objections. "

Israel to send hundreds more forces to West Bank

Jun 9, 2016

Israel is set to deploy hundreds more troops to the occupied West Bank after a shooting attack at a shopping center in Tel Aviv that the regime blamed on Palestinians.

In a Thursday statement, the Israeli military said the reinforcements include soldiers from infantry and special forces units.

“In accordance with situation assessments, the Judea and Samaria (West Bank) Division will be reinforced by two additional battalions,” the statement read.

The authorities in Tel Aviv have declined to provide details on the exact number of troops. However, battalions are usually made up of several hundred troopers.

The regime also suspended entry permits for tens of thousands of Palestinians in the wake of Wednesday’s deadly shooting in Tel Aviv. Based on the measure, all permits issued for family visits during the holy month of Ramadan are canceled.

The move will deny entry to 83,000 Palestinians from the occupied West Bank and some 200 residents of the Gaza Strip into Israel.

The developments came after a shooting in Tel Aviv left four Israelis dead and several others wounded.

Initial reports said the attackers were dressed as “ultra-Orthodox” Israelis,  but police later claimed they were of Palestinian origin.

Police announced that one assailant was arrested and another was taken to hospital after being shot following the incident that took place at the Sarona food and retail market near the Israeli military’s main headquarters on Wednesday night.

Meanwhile, the Israeli regime forces are preventing Palestinians from leaving and entering the West Bank village of Yatta, which the regime’s police say is home to the attackers.

Tensions have been running high in the occupied West Bank since last October.

Since then, at least 213 Palestinians, including children and women, have lost their lives at the hands of Israeli forces in what is regarded as the third Palestinian Intifada (uprising).

The uprising came after the Israeli regime imposed restrictions on the entry of Palestinians into the al-Aqsa Mosque in al-Quds (Jerusalem) in August last year.

After Tel Aviv Attack, Palestinians Express Little Joy but Understand Gunmen's Motive

Every week, hundreds of Palestinians are exposed to Israeli gunfire and flee it in fear. In their view, what Israelis experienced in this one attack is dwarfed by what they experience routinely.

Jun 10, 2016

Wafa, the official news agency of the Palestine Liberation Organization, uploaded on its site a spectacular photograph of fireworks in Gaza, set off in honor of the Muslim holy month of Ramadan and not in celebration of Wednesday’s shooting attack in Tel Aviv. Even if there were Palestinians who expressed joy over the attack in front of cameras which found them at exactly the right time and place, neither joy nor support would accurately describe the sentiments of most Palestinians about the shootings.

There is generally understanding of what motivated the two gunmen from the West Bank town of Yatta, combined with appreciation for what appeared to be their daring. There is also a lot of concern about how Israel will respond.

Wafa also published a condemnation of the attack from the office of Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas. It would certainly not satisfy the Israelis, while at the same time anger the Palestinians for its symmetry. “The office of the presidency has expressed its repeated rejection of any action by any side that targets civilians whatever the explanations for it may be,” the statement said. It also said that the creation of a positive climate and establishment of a just peace would ensure the safety of civilians.

Abbas’ opposition to any escalation has been reflected on the ground. For example, his security forces are arresting and detaining activists who had not been arrested by Israel and who had led demonstrations opposite the separation wall in Bethlehem. So clashes at one of the major hot spots have ceased. But in his lukewarm statement, Abbas was apparently trying to avoid hurting the feelings of his public.

His Fatah movement could not condemn the Tel Aviv attack. A statement from the organization called the shooting “a personal and natural response” to Israel’s state violence. A spokesman said that state violence meant a policy of home demolitions and uprooting Palestinians from their communities, “settlers’ invasions”of the Al-Aqsa mosque plaza in Jerusalem and the “killing in cold blood of Palestinians at checkpoints.”

For its part, the Hamas movement praised the attack, while the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine called it a turning point in the current intifada and an understandable reaction to the large number of Palestinians killed by Israel. Referring to the location of the Tel Aviv attack, which happened to be across the street from the Defense Ministry, it said this constituted a challenge to the new Israeli defense minister, Avigdor Lieberman, and confirmation that armed struggle was the best way to secure Palestinian rights.

The Popular Front’s stance is closer to prevailing Palestinian public opinion than the positions of Abbas or Fatah, as reflected by a poll published this week by the Palestinian Center for Policy and Survey Research. The survey found that 58 percent of those questioned (68 percent in the Gaza Strip and 52 percent in the West Bank) believe that if the lone wolf uprising that erupted in October, mostly involving stabbing attacks, develops into an armed intifada, it would serve the Palestinian national interest better than negotiations with Israel.

Support for stabbing attacks has declined. Only 36 percent of those questioned in the West Bank supported them. In the more geographically remote Gaza, however, stabbing attacks were supported by 75 percent.

In other words, there is large declarative support by those who are distant and not involved, while those who can act are reluctant to do so.

In surveys and declarations the use of arms preserves its aura as the apex of the national struggle against Israeli occupation. But neither the PFLP, nor Hamas or Fatah have tried or dared to “upgrade” last year’s escalation to an armed struggle, either because they cannot or know it would fail, or because the public is not really interested or prepared for it.

Television broadcasts showing Israelis fleeing the gunmen in fear are familiar scenes to Palestinians. Day after day, they experience the suffocating fear of armed Israelis. Every week, hundreds of Palestinians are exposed to Israeli gunfire and flee it in fear; sometimes, they are wounded or killed. In their view, what Israelis experienced in this one attack is dwarfed by what they experience routinely.

Palestinians also feel some satisfaction with the disruption of Tel Aviv normalcy, just an hour’s drive away from the zones of personal and national despair and poverty in Gaza and the West Bank. Most seem to know very well that this disruption won’t change Israelis’ views or behavior. But then, peaceful demonstrations, diplomatic moves and media reports also haven’t turned Israelis into Meretz supporters. So all that remains is the momentary satisfaction of vengeance.

Your link tells you what you that she was not expelled but didn't make the next stage. Her video was taken down over the weekend because there was no one available to censor some of the comments during that time.

People are going to great lengths now days to be a victim.

agreed but did you miss the reason why???

Following a complaint from blogger Edgar Davidson about the speech,

&

This does not change the fact that they have appeased the abusive Edgar Davidson, reassuring him they had decided not to send Leanne through to the grand final of the public speaking competition.

Leanne Mohamad of Wanstead High School was crowned the winner at the 2015-16 “Speak Out” Challenge! Redbridge Regional Final with a speech entitled ‘Birds Not Bombs’ – Congratulations!

she is regional finalist and suddenly is not allowed to go through to the grand final because of a complaint from a racist  blogger, really !!! ah well, she's only a Palestinian young girl I guess.

This is where you seem a little unhinged, firstly the judges did not vote the speaker to advance to the final because she didn't fill the requirements. It had nothing to do with the blogger and it was not due to his complaint.

I notice you have pulled the race card so you can play the victim, how surprising and original.
