I'm quite happy with my Skoda thank you very much.

Never thought of that. It's a good point!  Wow, he is one seriously crazy person. I think he believes dinosaurs still exist.

Yes they still exist under the names of Ford and Holden Cheesy LOL

and for those who are wondering ... if that's the sort of car Holden and Ford had spent the last 10 years working on, they'd be here for another 50 yrs. Instead off making the same cars they were making 40 yrs ago.

Because Holden could sell $150,000 family cars so easily. The Tesla is available now in Australia and has anyone even seen one 'in the flesh'?

They might be great cars but they are very very expensive and the ability to beat a V8 Super Car doesn't make any impact on the legions of mums and dads wanting a car to transport two kids and the weeks shopping from here to there.

But I never here you complain about paying 300K for a fossil fool car that still emits toxic gases from its exhaust pipe !!!

I have previously asked where Sir Nail lives, rented, brought, couch surfing or what, all with no response, when he was dissing investment advice I asked him how he invested his money, again with no response, would it be asking too much to ask him what he drives?  Is there a reply in the future?   Cool

what's that got to do with the price of fish on mars ? Either the car is good or it isn't irrespective of my personal achievements.

you are probably a holden or soon to be ex-holden worker who has got a chip on his shoulder because your company still hasn't worked out to be competitive in the market place without billions in corporate welfare handouts.

Because your reticence in answering leads me to suspect that you don't own or rent a house, you don't have any money to invest and you don't have a car.  So it would be a bit stupid taking any advice you have.  Unless I was wanting to end up homeless,  broke and without a car which is where your wisdom and experience has led you.

Their new Model D is absolutely nuts

I just watched a video where one obliterated a V8 Supercar. It won EASY. A standard road car.

I'd put up the video but I watched it on a friends mobile and I haven't got time to go find the video link now. Maybe later.

It's not that surprising. When it comes to initial acceleration with high-powered cars, four wheel drive will beat two wheel drive, and the heavier car will beat the lighter. Once the cars get going though and are no longer traction limited, the opposite happens. 2wd beats 4, lighter beats heavier.

In a test like this the V8 supercar was always going to struggle. A Nissan GTR road car (as well as several others) would beat both of them from 0-100. Standing starts is where a race car is at its weakest (unless it a dragster, or perhaps a rally car).

Nevertheless, very impressive for a battery run car.

Depends, some 4WD cars bog down right at the start so its hard for them to get off the line.

The V8 supercar isn't the easiest car to do standing starts with, they are not setup for that.

This little 4cyl will smash the Tesla on the 1/4, with the D model at 180K this 4 banger does it a lot cheaper as well.

I agree electric cars are expensive, but thats not a reason to not do them. They will get cheaper.

There is a least one EV that comes within a second of that time, though it is the 0-60mph time at 1.7 seconds that is impressive.

Yes, the technology is interesting, but the Tesla will have to be a lot more affordable before it becomes anything more than a rich person's toy.

$35K is the US pre-tax price. It will still be $100K when it gets here.

I'm not complaining about EITHER car, merely saying they are both hopelessly unaffordable for the average person and not value-for-money for anyone.
