I'd be inclined to agree.  The nice person suffered an incredibly serious and painful injury and was just trying to find some relief.  When you're in constant pain, you'll go to great lengths to alleviate it.

Imprisoning and ultimately deporting him is a horrible way to deal with a victimless crime.

That's your opinion. From my time in nursing, I can tell you with absolute certainty that you'd be surprised how many people become addicted to prescription medication. You'd be even more surprised who some of those people are. As for it being a victimless crime. Maybe it was - so far. What happens when the person starts to suffer withdrawals? That craving for the medication can make seemingly reasonable people do some pretty dangerous things..

So you’re saying he should be deported because he might do dangerous things?

Please explain.

No, he's being deported because he broke the law not once but twice. He no doubt knew the consequences but did it again and now has to love with his actions.

I would prefer it wasn't automatic or that there was an appeal process, but other than that, I don't see the problem. If you come to our country then you need to obey the laws. If you don't, you place yourself at risk of deportation and that is just another penalty of going to jail.  I do however think it should include people who actually GO to jail and exclude suspended sentences.

He mows a keen lawn, apparently.

But adheres to the Lib Party line 100% and gets his opinions from the Daily Toilet. To be pitied.

Try again. Rub a nurse the wrong way and you'll be in for a subtly horrid time of it!

That's one of the jobs I did during a break from nursing. It was completely different, which is what I needed, and got me VERY fit. You try working in palliative care (caring for the terminally ill) and see how long you last without a break.

Deportation is not part of the criminal code, Armchair. Abbott’s deportation policy is supposed to protect Australians from terrorists, murderers and organised crime gangs.

Now we find out.there’s a thousand Kiwis awaiting deportation for crimes like prescription drug posession, shoplifting and not paying parking fines. They can’t even fit them all in the detention centres.

Ever get the feeling you’ve been cheated?

Imagine being on your death bed and having to listen to AP reciting the Liberal Party book of plans and policies, that's sure to speed up the process.

I'm betting he gets a lot more deaths on his shift than other nurses ... with armpit lecturing they just will themselves to death .. it's much more preferable than listening to his crap
