The top of the feet makes sense as they get irregular exposure to sunlight. I often burn mine, particularly when beach fishing because the sand etc scrapes the sunscreen off and if they keep getting them wet they don't feel the heat like your back does. When they do get exposed they cop a full blast because they are one of the few spots on your body where the exposed skin faces directly up.

The top of the foot is exactly where this neighbour's got skin cancer.

Well....this morning, one of my neighbours popped over to tell us that our neighbour across the road had been diagnosed with skin cancer ....on his foot of all places!

That's what killed Bob Marley.

He should have passed the sunscreen from the left hand side.

Bob Marley?  The black dude?

No way!

From Wikipedia.... (I know...but it's better than nothing esp before one's morning coffee).

In July 1977, Marley was found to have a type of malignant melanoma under the nail of a toe.

Contrary to urban legend, this lesion was not primarily caused by an injury during a football match that year, but was instead a symptom of the already-existing cancer. Marley turned down his doctors' advice to have his toe amputated, citing his religious beliefs, and instead the nail and nail bed were removed and a skin graft taken from his thigh to cover the area.

Bob Marley appeared at the Stanley Theater (now called The Benedum Center For The Performing Arts) in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, on 23 September 1980; it would be his last concert.

Shortly afterwards, Marley's health deteriorated as the cancer had spread throughout his body.

The rest of the tour was cancelled and Marley sought treatment at the Bavarian clinic of Josef Issels, where he received a controversial type of cancer therapy (Issels treatment) partly based on avoidance of certain foods, drinks, and other substances.

After fighting the cancer without success for eight months Marley boarded a plane for his home in Jamaica.

While Marley was flying home from Germany to Jamaica, his vital functions worsened. After landing in Miami, Florida, he was taken to the hospital for immediate medical attention.

Bob Marley died on 11 May 1981 at Cedars of Lebanon Hospital in Miami (now University of Miami Hospital) at the age of 36.

The spread of melanoma to his lungs and brain caused his death.

His final words to his son Ziggy were "Money can't buy life."

What a waste! What was his bloody religion?

Back in a moment.....

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rastafari

The dude was a Rastafarian.

I've heard of Pastafarians but Rastafarians????

Bloody hell.

Anyway.... back to skin cancer. It seems even black people can die from this disease.

Don't need direct exposure to the sun to get skin cancer. Being fair-skinned, I have always been careful to cover up when outdoors but after all those years of golf, I have had skin cancer on my shoulder.

What a bugger!

I've had repeated encounters with the knife over the last few years.
One time I was bemoaning my misspent youth on the beach to the skin doctor but his response was: it wasn't misspent, you enjoyed it. And that's right.

They tell you now the only thing is to stay covered up.

Refusing to get his toe amputated was what killed Bob Marley.

And he refused on the grounds of some freaking vague religious cult he was a member of.

Ok. How did you discover you had skin cancer on your shoulder?

What happened there?

Got a localized rash, it persisted so next time I saw the GP I asked what it was. They did a biopsy and it was Bowen's disease. Had it scraped but it's back, so this time it's the knife...
