Nanny state rubbish.
for every child saved from diphtheria by the few extra vaccinations (remember 90 % herd immunity syops nearly all these diseases in their tracks), we will fund a gazzillion public service chodes to co ordinate the data.
ratbag socialist policy.
if you want to save kids and raise revenue, tax the parents of fat kids raised on junk food.
$100 per Kg per annum over weight tax....save the health budget a fortune
I can't tell if you're serious or not...
I am serious .
The cost of administration will be exorbitant.
Measles, mumps, german measles are pretty well eliminated once you get to 90 % herd immunity, there is no need to push for every last kid.
The vaccines are damm expensive.
Health bureaucrats love vaccination as it gives them something to count and have statistics on and look pro active.
But , in real terms, even before we had these national campaigns, deaths from rubella, chickenpox etc were very very rare.
So we spend a billion on this to save a handful of lives.
A billion spent on running exercise programs for overweight kids would save , probably 100,000 lives.
there is a new diabetic diagnosed every 7 minutes in australia.
The number one cause of blindness, amputation, kidney failure.
And all preventable if politicians would take on the junk food industry.
If they want to have a nanny state, start there......
punish people who dont have the will power to stop eating fat and sugar.
Rule one for success.
Dont spend significant time on insignificant things.
This is one area where cost is irrelevant. It'll save lives and save health costs later on down the track by preventing diseases from causing problems later in life. You're wrong to think that once you get the vast majority of kids immunised against measles that the rest don't need to be vaccinated. So very wrong.
