Have you got one yet?

An efficient housewife would have had this organised months ago, well before summer is upon us. You needed it to be supplied and installed before October.

You may well lose your #1 Housewife and Mummy Award over this dithering.

I like all the planning and reconsiderings.
That's where all the fun is.

Once you've decided and paid the deposit ........... well, that's it.

I had a look at the multi head systems.
For a variety of reasons, not a good idea.

Oh...ok  Undecided

Well, that's just made your decision making easier.
A multihead system is not significantly cheaper.
It is significantly more complex.
It is less efficient, less suited to what you want and less reliable.

If it has a problem, you have a REAL problem as it is a rarity.

The general concensus here is mitsubishi or diakyn split systems. 1 or 2 of them.
They take a long time to install. bank on 2 days.
You'll be very happy with either.

How so? I could get a multi head unit to do 3 bedrooms for $5k, ducted would cost me over 10k. with a multi, I can turn it on in the room I am using and leave the others off.

I don't think a multi will suit Lisa's purposes, but I think they're a good option for someone who already has air in the living areas and wants to put air into the bedrooms. It's certainly better and cheaper than a compressor for each room.

Ok John, Sprint etc.....I really need to wrap this up today.

1. I'm buying a split system air conditioner system. It has to be split system.  Can't be ducted.

2. It must service an open plan area consisting of a lounge room, dining room, kitchen oh and I just remembered.....these are exposed to a hallway AND vestibule area....and a current study/office (soon to become Mum's new bedroom). So in essence, all of Mum's downstairs areas.

2. The bedrooms are all upstairs. They don't require anything.

3. The system has to be quiet, easy to operate, and energy efficient. Mum needs to be able to confidently use the remote control on her own.

4. It must be a reliable brand/model.  I'm not prepared to go through this shyte again...nor do I need ongoing breakdown hassles.

5. Price of system is irrelevant. I have that under control. I know how to negotiate. That's my forte lol.

6. Installation costs are also irrelevant. I have electricians and plumbers on tap here lol. Again...I can get all that done at a good price.

7. I think I might need 2 split systems. Can I really get away with just 1? I don't know that I can. It may leave pockets of warm zones here and there which is very unhealthy.

8. Thanks for your help guys. I really mean it. My husband is absolutely useless when it comes to anything practical. He's a man of the suit, pen and laptop. The same now applies to my 2 useless brothers.

Anyway....

you need the total floor area you want cooled. One split system will be enough if you buy one big enough. Once you have the floor area your local air con retailer will be able to tell you which one you need.

Yep. This afternoon, we went over to Mum's place to measure the floor area which needs to be cooled.

Tomorrow, we're buying the damn thing.

Thanks for all your tips and advice.

Things should be ok now.

Another way Pansi  would have to just roughly measured up, gone to Harvey Norman - there is one near hurstville - and told them that there is  a two bedroom unit that needs A/C.     Needs to consider is that the unit is near a busy road and also houses a red hot internet router that is in operation 24 hours a day.

Lisa is starting to sound like longy, he thinks he's special because he has a mortgage.

There's absolutely nothing special about having air conditioning Lisa.....it's been around like......forever.

You should have got mama air con long before this. Are you a neglectful daughter? No wonder she's sick, she's been sweltering all these years with a little $12 fan.
