So, you don’t actually know what is involved in “baseload solar.” So your uninformed, outdated views on modern nuclear generators can be discarded.

Typical Green, all slogans, stunts and empty rhetoric. Know nothing.

I have no interest in pretending I am an expert in the technical side ... unlike you who pretends you think there are no risks with nuclear.

I have posted articles on baseload solar (latest was yesterday) which you chose to ignore. No point in throwing pearls before swines.

Dumbing down still.

There are more choices than the old and dirty tech of coal and nukes.

i.e baseload solar.
Something that doesn't have the opposition to it like coal and nukes have.

“Baseload solar” just trips off the tongue, doesn’t it? What will in fact be needed? Any idea?

Nuke for heavy, industrial power use, distributed solar for residential and light commercial.

Glad Turnbull hasn’t ruled out nuclear, now to see what the SA enquiry will find.

You pretend to care about saving the planet from human caused climate change yet hate baseload solar.

What's your agenda. Financial interest in dirty tech, like nukes.

And your agenda is to oppose... everything. I bet you drive a fossil fuel car and use electricity from coal-powered plants. Come back when you get your life TRULY green.

Unsustainable methods do not fit longterm goals of bringing heaven to earth. As a heathen, your goals are different. i.e destroying god's creation for a short term dollar.

This issue is a spiritual issue. When you understand this ... then you will understand.

You dont believe in God. You are an atheist.

That is a cop out. You have shown the board you just spout slogans with no understanding.

If you don’t know you can find out and I don’t mean the fine details, just a general understanding. Glib “baseload solar” doesn’t cut it. This is a political discussion board, not a Greens party meeting  Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy

Wrong again.
And since you are reasonably new here, what trickery are you hiding. As a heathen, are you using witchcraft to try and fill your gaping hole in your knowledge base?

Only a heathen would want to destroy god's creation the way you want to.

Wow you are insane. Have you ever in your entire life answered a question with a relevant answer?  I bet you cannot even answer how old you are. It is probably against your code of conduct to answer such things plus, you probably don't know.

I will ask again.

What do you think will be needed for “baseload solar?” How many stations, how many Km a side each would need to be, where to site, how to get the power to where it is needed?

So—any idea at all what is involved or are you just mouthing slogans?

A square with sides of approximately 500km could do it theoretically.

In truth you need co-generation. The practicalities of getting it to market  dictate that fossil fuels will always play a role and in the bigger populations nuclear will never disappear.

500Km a side. That would use up several supertankers worth of steel and the emissions released in making, transporting and assembling the millions of kilometres of steel tubing etc etc would be horrendous. The environment where it is erected would be destroyed: roads, housing for workers, airstrip, offices, computer centre etc etc etc. Then ultra high voltage DC lines need to be built etc etc etc.

“Baseload solar” just trips off the tongue, doesn’t it, Greens_Win. Pity the reality is very, very different.

Nuclear isn’t cheap but more realistic than just saying blithely “baseload solar.”

But then the Greens don’t give two figs for the environment.
