Union/ALP use travellers as pawns
Nov 1st, 2015 at 9:23pm

https://au.totaltravel.yahoo.com/news/a/29946417/unions-using-travellers-as-pawn...

Employment Minister Michaelia Cash has accused unions of using travellers as "pawns" as they prepare for a 24-hour strike at international airports.

Travellers could be met with delays at international airports as Border Force staff prepare for a 24-hour strike on November 9 over a dispute with the federal government over pay and conditions.

Ms Cash told ABC radio on Friday it was unfair travellers were being disrupted by the Community and Public Sector Union

Too right! They could never pay me enough to carry out the inhumane treatment this government demands of our border protection. Should recruit some of the wankers on this forum, they would do it for free.

Why would/should they be laughed at by anyone? What's funny about protecting our country?

So asking for the passport of travellers coming into Sydney International Airport from abroad is inhumane?

It's like being back at Yahoo with Macca churning out the stories.
Not that there's anything wrong with that.

Our defence forces protect our country. Border force is an armed paramilitary force.

A strike is a classic signal that managment (in this case the government) have failed to negotiate...

That would mean it is the government using travelers as pawns...

This crap is always a matter of perspective innit.

This is no different from the department of Homeland Security or the British equivalent. It makes sense to put Customs, Quarantine, etc under the one roof. They aren't a paramilitary force - they're federal agents.

Not necessarily. Remember the Qantas engineers strike? The wages and conditions they were demanding would've sent Qantas to the wall. They only backed down after Joyce grounded the airline after months of protracted negotiations in which the Unions did little other than to demand more with no promises of better productivity.
