Oh, I’d say those Ba’athists who lived to fight another day as ISIS, wouldn’t you?

In the end, FD, does anybody ever win?

The one that rids us of the most muslims wins. They contribute the most and get the most points for making the world a better place.

The prize for that one goes to General Suharto, Matty. He killed over a million Indonesians with the full backing of Nixon and Kissenger.

Back then, they were known as "communist suspects". We didn’t have the Muselman back then. The terrorists were called "leftists" and Australia was white. Herbie was in his element.

Ah, the good old days.

At least theres a Few Good men, Gandy.

So saturation bombing and mortaring civilian populations is now childish exaggeration.is it, Herb? I have a feeling you’re asking for much more than the phospherous bombing of high density civilian populations.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but before you went for your nap, you were advocating genocide.

Slept it off, have you?

The US "won" one objective in Iraq by deposing Saddam and, after a period of occupation, establishing erections.

But the US failed to achieve it’s ultimate aim of securing the region. It failed to install a friendly regime. It failed to get a military foothold in Iraq, instead being forced to shut up.shop. It failed to spread your much-loved Freeeedom, instead inviting in militias that brought the worst form of tyrany we’ve seen outside of Saudi Arabia.

And ultimately, the US failed in its aim of establishing Middle Eastern hegemony, pushing back Iran and staying on top of (back then) the French.(and now) the Russians. This was the real task of the neocons - to fortify US unilateral power and becoming the real victor of the cold war.

Bush’s folly in Iraq achieved the exact opposite - it saw the rise of Iran and Russia and created more terrorist networks and militias than the world has ever seen. It saw the creation of an entire terrorist state, far worse than anything in the "axis of evil". Now, the US is left tolerating Syria and Iran. It has to. Its failures in Iraq and its necessary exit from the region have made this inevitable.

I’ve left out the trillion in debt and the opposition of the American people themselves to more military intervention. I’ve left out the biggest failure of all: the damage to the US’s reputation, along with the damage to US liberal democracy as a political brand: the reintroduction of torture, Guantanamo, and on and on I could go.

Still, FD, we must remain positive. ISIS is the new South Korea, no?

Incidentally, the reporting of Jihadi John having been killed by a rocket is pure nonsense of course.

It's midnight in the ISIS capital of Raqqa, and someone emerges from a building - his face is recognised ... at midnight ... in the dark ... in the ISIS capital where everyone walks around with scarfs and towels and dish cloths on their head ... and where spies don't wander the streets in the dark ...

Grin

The claim is just too silly for words.

It's probably to bring 'closure' for the families of his victims, and to save the UK government from spending yet further millions trying to track him down.

Jihadi John has been in hiding, terrified that exactly this would happen. I doubt that it could be definitely and conclusively proven that he has been killed.

So how did the US get ISIS to play along with the Jihadi John story?

The idea that there's been a spy dogging jihadi John's every footstep in the ISIS capital of Raqqa is pure pipe-dream from a bong.

No person on foot could get within coo-ee of Jihadi John and his close associates in the heart of ISIS.

How many years did it take for the Americans with all their resources to find bin-Laden? - and with a million dollars on his head ... and here we have a bearded Arab looking for all the world like thousands of ISIS Arabs in this city ...

Money changes hands ... money or fresh guns and bullets and some food drops ...

Isn't that what the US did with Saddam's lot with mustard gas or something when they were fighting the Russians, or the Iranians, or whoever?

If it was a direct hit with a Hellfire Missile, there probably would not be much left today, that would identify the chap. But I don't think a person who can cut someone's head off with a knife would be terrified of the his own likely end.

Still it goes on:

Paris 'bloodbath' kills at least 160
1:33 pm, Saturday, 14 November 2015

More than 120 people have been killed in a mass hostage-taking at a Paris concert hall, while another 40 are feared dead, after a series of bombings and shootings across the French capital.

Police say around 120 people were killed at the Bataclan music venue in eastern Paris alone, with reports the armed attackers shot dead concert-goers one by one before security forces stormed the building.

One witness said an attacker had earlier yelled 'Allahu akbar' ('God is great') and fired into the crowd at the concert given by US rock band Eagles of Death Metal.

Local police officials say at least two alleged jihadists blew themselves up with suicide belts when security forces stormed the building.

It was one of a series of attacks at seven locations across Paris in an unprecedented night of carnage, in a city that is still recovering from jihadist attacks in January.

French media reported that five suspected attackers in total had been 'neutralized' across Paris.

The Bataclan lies just 200 metres from the former offices of the Charlie Hebdo magazine, which was one of the targets of those attacks.

In addition to the carnage at the concert hall, at least five people were also killed in three explosions near the Stade de France national stadium, were France was playing Germany in an international football match.

One of the explosions was caused by a suicide bomber, witnesses said.

President Francois Hollande was attending the match and had to be hastily evacuated.

A Cambodian restaurant near the concert hall was also attacked, with further deaths reported.' Terrorist attacks of an unprecedented level are under way across the Paris region,' Hollande said in an emotional televised message.'It's a horror,' he said.

Hollande declared a state of emergency across the entire country and cancelled his trip to the G20 summit which was due to take place in Turkey at the weekend.

An additional 1500 soldiers have been deployed to Paris, the presidency said.

The focus of the attacks was the Bataclan.

Armed police eventually stormed the venue just before midnight, accompanied by a series of explosions.' I saw 20 to 25 bodies lying on the floor and people were very badly injured, gunshot wounds,' Julien Pierce, a witness at the Bataclan, told Europe 1 radio.' Some of them were dead. Some of them were very badly wounded, but it was a bloodbath.'

At the Stade de France, spectators flooded the pitch as news of the attacks spread before organisers started an evacuation.

The mayor of Paris, Anne Hidalgo, called for residents to stay at home.' We heard gunfire, 30 seconds of fire, it was interminable, we thought it was fireworks,' said Pierre Montfort, who lives near the Cambodian restaurant.' Everyone was on the floor, no one moved,' said another eyewitness, who had been at the Petit Cambodge restaurant.'

A girl was carried by a young man in his arms. She appeared to be dead.'

The toll 'will be much heavier' than the initial confirmed deaths, a security source said.Camille, 25, said: 'My sister is in the Bataclan. I phoned her. She said they opened fire. And then she hung up.'

German Chancellor Angela Merkel and European Union chief Jean-Claude Juncker said they were 'deeply shocked' by the attacks. France has been on high alert since the attacks in January against Charlie Hebdo and a Jewish supermarket that left 17 dead.

Why don't you instead condemn the military arm of Hamas for having deliberately set up their rocket-launchers in civilian neighbourhoods, and for having stored their arsenal of weaponry in a local hospital?

And never a mention that it was only after hundreds of Palestinian rockets had been fired into Israeli civilian areas that the Israelis' gift for tolerance finally crumbled and they started firing back?

Why are these crucial factors in the whole saga of that Israeli-Gaza Strip melee never mentioned by you pathetic apologists for barbarian Third World suckholes?

For godsake stop reading The Guardian and watching the ABC news services.
