Can the economy survive by selling cups of coffee?
Nov 6th, 2015 at 9:36pm

Mining Boom is kaput-sky so what's left ?

A property ponzi scheme requiring a continual growth in house prices and debt to pay for it. This is just not sustainable !!

Selling cups of coffee is not going to sustain an economy either because if it did then Germany could just close all of it's manufacturing plants and sell cups of coffee. Would not work.

So what are the jobs of the future ?

Jobs at centerlink !
Rickshaw drivers for the wealthy chinese tourists or locals Wink

What else ?

We are selling our mining equipment dirt cheap:

Fancy a bargain? Multi-million-dollar mining machinery sold dirt cheap as industry downturn bites
By Andrew Robertson

Auctioneers are hard at work selling tens of millions of dollars of coal mining machinery for just a fraction of its original market value.

The severe downturn in the Australian resources sector has led to a massive oversupply of equipment, and much of it is unsuitable for use in any other industry.

This means unwanted excavators, trucks and sundry heavy machinery will end up as scrap, if not sold at auction.

It's not all doom & gloom rusty

- Agriculture is going to boom. Parts of it already are.
While on farm employment may not be massive because of technology, it all spills over to more jobs in transport, export, services to ag sector etc

- companies & orgs in these sectors will be providing more jobs:
- medical & health ttechnology
- education export
- pharmaceuticals
- tourism of course, with coffee

Just some of the areas that are growing. But the days of mass manufacturing employment are virtually gone for ever.
