If that was in fact the case, those countries that have the death penalty, say for example, for first degree murder, wouldn't have any more premeditated murders, would they?

The last person executed would have deterred the others.

The death penalty is far too good for pedophile maggots or extreme violence. It would be best if they were kept alive and have to endure bull ants applied to their honey covered genitals for two hours daily to remind them of their crimes.
