The royal commission into Union Corruption will charge Cesar Melham on a number of corruption charges

Mr Melham was Mr Shorten's successor at the AWU

The level of ignorance on what a RC can do is mind blowing, even though I have explained it many times.  A RC does not have any power to charge anyone.  It can make findings and make recommendations, and those are merely administrative.  I have used to the Cole RC into the Building and Construction Industry which made adverse findings and recommendations against many people, and not one of them was even charged with any offence, let alone convicted.

Further, the RC has not made any adverse findings against Melham.  All that happened on Friday evening was that Jeremy Stoljar, the Barrister Assisting the RC (the Prosecutor, if you like) made submissions urging that the RC make adverse findings.

Shortens 17% and the polls at 56.5/43.5 it doesn't sound too much like a failure.
