Atheists open churches around the world
Nov 11th, 2015 at 9:36am

Atheism, a religion that believes in God's non existence, has started massively to open churches around the world including Australia Melbourne.

Sunday Assembly, or church for atheists, is a gathering of the godless. It aims to celebrate and inspire. It also serves tea and cake.

"The Sunday Assembly has been called the atheist church, but we prefer to think of it as all the best bits of church but with no religion and awesome songs,"  Sanderson Jones said.

"Our motto is "live better, help often and wonder more", and our mission is to help everyone live this one life as fully as possible."

Mr Jones and Pippa Evans created and held their first Sunday Assembly in London in January 2013.

What on earth are they going to talk about ? Atheism is just the denial of the existence of a god or gods. Nothing more - nothing less !!

This must be an April fools joke !!

Just because someone no longer believes in divine beings doesn't mean you want to leave all the positive things about a congregation behind.  A regular friendly meeting of like minded folks, some music, a bite to eat.  All positive things, all things that don't require a belief in a god.

In a time of universal deceit — telling the truth is a revolutionary act.

No evidence whatsoever it can be attributed to George Orwell or Eric Arthur Blair (in fact the same guy)

It's not "atheists" it's a specific group, who happen to be atheists.

Quote:
Sunday Assembly is a non-religious gathering co-founded by Sanderson Jones and Pippa Evans in January 2013 in London, UK. The gathering is mostly for non-religious people who want a similar communal experience to a religious church, though religious people are also welcome.

They like the community aspect, but not the superstition.

And it is held in a Christian Church...

It looks both embarrassing and pointless.

What depicts that as a Christian church?

I'm curious a Christian would say this.  Does that mean that the things that you do in church that they do to are both embarrassing and pointless?  Or that belief in a deity is required for the exact same action to somehow take on a point?

Of course.

It was once a Christian church but not any more. It is what it is.

It's not embarrassing and pointless to the people that go there. They must feel revitalised without being reborn......and they don't have to eat Jesus or drink his blood.

They can just sit there practicing angry faces and working out how they are going to avoid proving every one elses god does not exists in the angriest possible way.
