Thank heavens the grown-ups were once in charge.

Abbott never needed to change his mind when often he held multiple views on the same topic. He almost certainly had an opinion his audience would like. He regularly held differing positions on the same topic for different audiences.

Tony was flexible with what he could say.

You can say plenty about Abbott but one thing he definitely was not is indecisive, that's for sure.

Yes he always knew exactly what he would do and tell his audience authoritatively where he stood.

His maternity leave scheme or funding to the ABC, SBS, education, healthcare etc all come to mind.

He was very decisive and then did the opposite to what he had said very decisively.

You could say he was both decisive and divisive.

He was decisively very flexible.

Either Assad has to go or he has a role to play in brokering a ceasefire. Make up your mind, Malcolm!

It's really not that difficult, even for an idiot like you.

Short term, they can't get rid of Assad, that'll just leave a power vacuum. The last time that happened we ended up with Isis. Long term, Assad has to go.

You'll have to forgive armpit, he's been reading Tony's revised version of events between 2013 and 2015.  Basically Tony was God and great at everything, and that's why they got rid of him.  He was too good, that was the problem.

That's right. Changing every policy Mr Abbott put forward is not indecisiveness, it's flexibility.

Sensible, reliable, predictable, say what you'll do and do what you say. The captain at the helm, the grown-ups back in charge.

Those were the days, eh?

Wut?

Can someone please explain to me how this works?  What is the official story they are using to justify this brand of idiocy?

Exactly. The best thing Mr Abbott did was promise good government. I'm not sure why no one thought of this before, but Mr Abbott was getting there. Good government was just around the corner.

And he would have got away with it if it wasn't for that miserable Malcolm Turnbull.

I know!  By all projections, good government was set to start tomorrow.  Until Turnbull ruined it for Tony.  There will be no carbon tax under a government I lead!

I think you misunderstand the notion of the compromise. This is a case of having to choose between a terrible outcome and a worse one.

Clearly the lefties can't deal with the fact that Abbott saw this coming and was right in his stance on illegal immigration. I heard on the news this morning an Iraqi man is in custody in Sweden on terrorism charges after entering the country posing as a refugee. The alert level in Sweden has been raised to 4/5. How many more terrorists have posed as refugees? Sweden closed its borders last week yet they're still having more than 900 people a day try to get in. Abbott foresaw this. Thank goodness he and Morrison fixed the mess our border security had become after 6 years of Labor incompetence.
