UK submerged by floods. Global warming?

Its so bad emergency workers have to ferry patrons to the nearest above-water pub.

Weather event masquerades as global warming. A bit like socialists masquerading as environmentalists.

So much snake oil...it's a wonder these warmist twats haven't drowned in it yet.

Night temperatures are rising faster than day temperatures which causes plants to emit more carbon dioxide into the air during the night. This is an accelerator effect.

http://phys.org/news/2015-12-nights-atmosphere-carbon-climate.html

Quote:
Just as warm nights make people more active, so too does it for plants. Although plants take up carbon dioxide from the atmosphere, they also internally consume sugars to stay alive. That process, known as respiration, produces carbon dioxide, which plants step up in warm weather, Anderegg said. The researchers found that yearly variations in the carbon sink strongly correlated with variations in plant respiration.
"When you heat up a system, biological processes tend to increase," Anderegg said. "At hotter temperatures, plant respiration rates go up and this is what's happening during hot nights. Plants lose a lot more carbon than they would during cooler nights."

Previous research has shown that nighttime temperatures have risen significantly faster as a result of climate change than daytime temperatures, Anderegg said. This means that in future climate scenarios respiration rates could increase to the point that the land is putting more carbon into the atmosphere than it's taking out of it, "which would be disastrous," he said.

Of course, plants consume carbon dioxide as a part of photosynthesis, during which they convert sunlight into energy. While photosynthesis also is sensitive to rises in temperature, it only happens during the day, whereas respiration occurs at all hours and thus is more sensitive to nighttime warming, Anderegg said.

"Nighttime temperatures have been increasing faster than daytime temperatures and will continue to rise faster," Anderegg said. "This suggests that tropical ecosystems might be more vulnerable to climate change than previously thought, risking crossing the threshold from a carbon sink to a carbon source. But there's certainly potential for plants to acclimate their respiration rates and that's an area that needs future study."

Anderegg- the 97% survey. 'We defined CE researchers as those who signed statements broadly agreeing  with or directly endorsing the primary tenets of the IPCC Fourth Assessment Report that it is “very likely” that anthropogenic greenhouse gases have been responsible for “most” of the “
unequivocal” warming of the Earth’s average global temperature in the second half of the 20th century (3).

We defined UE researchers as those who have signed statements strongly dissenting from the views of the IPCC'

http://www.pnas.org/content/107/27/12107.full.pdf

So one group had to merely broadly agree, while the other had to have signed statements disagreeing with the IPCC. Skewed much?

Plants respire at night? Who knew or possibly better who didn't know.

More CO2 due to warmer temperatures or more CO2 due to the wide reporting of greening of the planet?

' They found the strongest association with variations in tropical nighttime temperatures, which have risen by about 0.6 degrees Celsius (33 degrees Fahrenheit) since 1959.'

This is "peer-reviewed" science, isn't it? No wonder his survey was junk. He can't do basic maths.

It's different for different areas of course but change is certainly afoot.

Multi-year sea-ice is of course the real problem but measuring thickness has it's problems so they say. Multi-year sea ice is the canary in the mine and people are worried about it but it too seems to have its good and bad years. Hence 30 year trends are deemed the only way to really gauge things.

secondly, I might say that it would have been nice to see the range for 2 standard deviations on this chart but yes: a record for this area is very possible.

Weird looking chart ay  Shocked Shocked Shocked Shocked
