Double Australia's Energy Efficiency by 2030
Nov 22nd, 2015 at 8:54am

A $500 million government authority would double Australia's energy efficiency and move the country towards 90 per cent renewable energy by 2030, under a plan to be unveiled by the Greens today.

Greens leader Richard Di Natale is set to today announce plans for the new agency, RenewAustralia, which he said would drive the country through a 15-year pipeline of clean energy projects.

Dr Di Natale is also set to outline a $1 billion Clean Energy Transition Fund to assist coal workers and communities with the transition to clean energy.

He said that moving to clean energy would boost the country's economy, as well as address climate change.

"While both Malcolm Turnbull and Bill Shorten talk about tackling climate change, they have locked us into the industries of the last century, supporting coal and vested interests," he said.

"RenewAustralia is not just an ambitious vision for our country, it's the blueprint for making it happen."

The Turnbull Government currently has a clean energy target of 23.5 per cent by 2020, while Labor has pitched a 50 per cent target by 2030.

In a statement, the Greens said the clean energy projects would include a combination of reverse auctions and direct investment.

More to come.

Where's the rationale supporting such a statement?

*Sure....they're anti competitive as any subsidised job is.  It wouldn't be there without the tax payer.  Very damned difficult for a brainwashed collectivist to understand that I know....  (swaggy) *
